E92 M3 Coupe - V10 M5 engine, ACS wheels and SMG!

For my 28,000 post I bring you this monster.

The M3's stock 6 speed manual transmission has also been replaced with the M5/M6's seven speed SMG transmission.

I am on vacation in Europe this week and got a chance to visit Nurburgring on Sunday to get a ride in the Ring Taxi (which was amazing by the way). We got there really early in the morning hoping to catch a glimse of all the cars coming in and right when I pulled into the parking lot, I spotted it...a brand new M3 sitting outside the BMW building.

The car had AC Schnitzer 20" wheels (295/25/20 tires on the rear), Recaro aftermarket seats and a Harge steering wheel. It was also an SMG model.

I have a decent video of the guy pulling away in it as he left the area, but its too big to post now. I will shrink it down when I get back to the US. But the exhaust sounded unbelievable as he drove off.

Here are the pics...

While I have not been completely sold on the new M3 idea over an RS4, having seen it in person is really starting to win me over.

This has got to be one of the baddest engine swaps ever.

Assuming the V10 is heavier than the V8 I would think that would upset the handling balance of the car.

If you had the luck to experience the SMG, then you certainly would understand while BMW decided to use it. It's a bit neck-snapping for some, but the gear changing is executed very quickly and in a car-racing manner. Most people will prefer a conventional manual gearbox but SMG is definitely a nice change!I had the chance to try out an E60M5 last december, and the experience was simply shattering!!

That swap looks interesting and wheels could obviously be better.Otherwise the car is drop-dead gorgeous!I will never get tired of the 3 series line. The M3 lines are very beefy!

My goodness. That car is the reason why teenage boys have wet dreams. I mean, why bang a girl for 39 secs when you can drive this thing for hours

I've had the misfortune to try it out in a Z4 and 530 IIRC a couple years ago. I hated it in manual and auto mode.

with respect to SMG apparently you will never be able to shift as fast as this thing even if you drank 10000 red bulls and were on crank! thats the big deal with SMG

this car is insane! rims are sick too! they're made by AC and look "very nice"-borat

everyone always has something to say " oh, this, oh that, blah blah rims, blah wahts the big deal" hahaa you guys crack me up

I'm sorry, but SMG sucks. Sure that 10% of the time when you're getting on it it works quite nice, but the rest of the time it cant figure out what to do with itself. For a deicated track car it might be nice, but most SMG cars are not.
