I guess their point is asking why go to a 10 year old car for a daily driver when your CL is safer and newer.

Shit, I got the E39 540i, and I still miss the CL sometimes....and I bought it with every option besides navi, but I got that too now.

I don't know, you might not like the E34 as much as far as luxury goes, but the performance will make up for it for sure. And you're right, the 5er, just like the 7 series is like a train. I don't know if the E34 6 speeds came with the sport package like the E39s, but I took the car around some twisties in Michigan and it's amazing how the car goes through the curves at over 100 mph! It feels like I could burry the needle and still nothing would happen. The stock E39s went through the slalom faster than the Vette in 97. It's a great car to have fun with.

The E34s had sport packages as well as the very rare M sport package. Only 200 were produced, but it added Electronic Dampening Control, ASC+T and Limited slip Rear diff, or at least almost all came like that. Plus other cool little stuff over the regular 5.

And even if I was comparing it to the E34 M5, that M5 had 2 less cylinders, no FI and still made 100 more hp than the V8. I'd rather have a TL-P than the E34 530.
No FI? Not sure what that means. If that means Fuel Injection, the M5 definitely had fuel injection.

Certainly the M5 I-6 is the more desireable motor.......until you have to pay to rebuild one. Budget $10-12 grand for that.

Forced Induction.

Of course it's more expensive. But even cars nowdays can't touch what they did over 10 years ago as far as displacement vs horsepower goes.
