Drove a GTO and C6

A friend and I went to the GM autoshow in motion at arlington racetrack today. They had a bunch of cars that you could test drive around a cone course. You have to drive one luxury or passenger car before you can drive the C6, we chose the GTO. The GTO is a has a great interior and the seats hold you in really well. The tranny was kinda notchym but the clutch was great. The car handles decent, but understeers at the limit. I had the tires squeeling pretty hard around the course, as well as my friend. He got a warning for driving too fast.

Next, onto the C6. The interior is really improved over the C5. The plastics are great as well as the ergonomics. The clutch and tranny worked very well, but was kindy notchy as well. The LS2 has great low end torque, but I was expecting a little more. Maybe its because I have been driving around a ATI procharged C5 and my butt dyno is off. The C6 track was a little longer than the others, so I really got to wring it out. The suspension is much improved and the car feels lighter on its feet. The car will still understeer at the limits, but I just applied gas and rotated the car. I had the tires squeeling around most of the cource. The brakes are very responsive, providing good feel and easy modulation. Overall, the car is much improved and very close to a C5 Z06. I wish they had a Z51 equiped car that I could have tested. It

I was there today as well. I have only terrible things to say about the organization of that show. It was a disgrace for GM, but I will open a new thread and explain tomorrow. I drove the C6 as well.

Dont go. IF it will be anything like it was in IL, it's not worth your time.

Damn, it must've been really bad! I went when it was here in DC over the summer and it was pretty good. We didn't have the C6, but we did have the Z06. The only shitty part about the whole thing was that you had to wait in line for ever to drive the Corvettes, and you only got to drive them once. And the road course they had set up for the Pontiacs (which inlcuded the GTO) was pretty lame. But that didn't stop me from driving the GTO like 10 times!!! Definitely considering it as my next car somewhere down the road.

I didn't think it was bad. I just didn't like waiting in line 45 minutes to drive the C6.

Nice, unfortunate for the setup by GM. I still need to get out and go drive a GTO, and a C6

I'd so buy a GTO if it was 4 door. My wife was ready to buy one when she saw it but we need 4 doors.

Hey do you have a link Maximized? I've done the Benz one and it's pretty fun flinging around S classes.
