I jump fences as I please, lol

serious tho - did not want it to be in red - I guess you have to pay to play, I was just hoping for better on the warranty side. This is only about the Dinan upgrade.

we had an E46 M3 with the complete S2 package with the S/C who blew his engine... we warrantied it we also did do the install on it, maybe that had something to do with it?

The Dinan numbers are to the crank. Well, I think they are anwyay....someone prove me wrong. In that car we're talking ~310hp/360tq, which is nice but not as stupid fast as the numbers indicate.

384hp to the crank is great given the stocker is rated at 300. And, torque is usually measured at the engine - so given that's what they measured here, there is no conversion for the 421 ft-lbs. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's how it is.

No one answered my question. When you buy the ecu upgrade, do you get a part or would I have to take my car to an authorized Dinan shop for a new ecu flash?

I havent read too much on it but i think you can send your ECU to dinan and they will flash it. Then send it back to you. If you dont have a dinan dealer near by that is.

I think it's measured at the engine or rear wheels. I also think that Dinan's 421lb/ft will be more like 360lb/ft to the rear wheels, but I might be totally wrong.

I still think it's a cool option, but there are downsides that's all. For example, Dinan just matches the warranty, there is speculation that some dealers won't honor it. We'll see.

well as I stated before, the dealer I bought my 335 from is a Dinan autherized dealer.. The salesman also mentioned something about to me when I was on a test drive with him.. Im going to call him at some point today and find out the truth.

thanks for providing us with some real-world information.

oh and,

lol

it's nice to see Dinan is welcomed at BMW. I mean after all, they are the equivalent of AMG to Mercedes and have been in the game for about the same time. (M is in-house).

Interesting; I just talked to the SA at Budds BMW (authorized Dinan etc..) and he said it's a warranty *match*, meaning if you have an issue you go through Dinan to receive the warranty work. I guess everyone is guessing right now.

Well, I have seen this kind of thing vary by dealer. So I guess YMMV. Some dealers are more forgiving than others. This is going by my Supra TT experience. I had to have my turbos replaced and it was a known fact - since the dealer works closely with Sound Perf - that my car had been modded (exhaust, dp, boost). Still I was able to get the work done under Toyota warranty ($6k claim). btw it was later found out the turbos were actually not blown, it was an issue with the hoses. I just took it in when I heard a whistling and had no boost, and it was determined the turbos were blown. /tmi

I thought they were a single lol. Nice car! Those things always made me nervous, especially from a roll. No way to tell they're not stock unless you see a big front mount. I've always wanted one but way out of my price range.

Wow, I used to post over there a long time ago. My first taste of a Supra was at a car meet in Vegas. I rode with my friend in his M3 because once again the GN was down. We happened to be on an on ramp right in front of a Supra with big frontmount, BPU+ at least. When we merged on, the Supra went to go around us so my friend floored it. I looked at him like he was crazy and the Supra left us like we were standing still with the rear end skating around at 60+mph. I see more MK IIIs than the IVs. In fact, haven't seen a MK IV in a couple years.

A few years ago I used to see TT Supras from time to time. A couple of times I had one pull up to me at a stoplight while driving one of the GN's. We'd look at each other, nod and smile, and both leave quietly once the light turned green. Each time I had the feeling of mutual respect between both parties and it was best not to mess with each other. Very cool.

Your dealer probably internalled it(meaning they ate the cost of a motor and labor). Big difference from warrentying it.

the simple answer is that the stock 335i runflats suck. the porsche cayman gets .95-1.0 G in the skidpad test and it's has no LSD...

Even BMW knows runflats suck... that's why they don't put runflats on M cars...

Braking and cornering are abnormally good with the TL. I've taken mine, an AT (smaller brakes and swaybars) around a small course against a friend's IS350 with sport package which completely destroys me in a straight line and beat him pretty good when cornering and braking were thrown in. Braking for a corner I could wait an extra two seconds before hitting mine. My cornering speed was faster, I could've rear ended him a couple times if I wanted.

His car was bone stock with traction control off. Mine was stock with the exception of traction off, 100lbs of subs in the trunk, and 255 G-forces all the way around on stock rims.

Trying to drive this FWD car at it's limit was the opposite of everything I've learned and not fun. I almost plowed through the first corner when it understeered and I gave it more gas to balance it out. Forgot I was driving a FWD for a second. We also didn't go long enough for his big brakes to shine as mine never faded.
