Post Drove

A new RSX Type S last Saturday. Noisey as hell inside, but a freakin rocket up to the redline of 8k. You can feel the extra 10 hp of the 2005 motor..with an intake and exaust I bet the car would be really crazy. Me likey.

I drove my friend's 02 RSX-S (before he traded up to the S2K) and came away VERY impressed with both the motor and gearbox. Even his S2k (though much more powerful) didnt seem as refined as the RSX-S IMHO.

The new taillights and headlights really makes it a better looking car IMHO.

I saw a under $25K Car and Driver comparo on TV this weekend, and the RSX beat out the competitors...

The new '05 is sick.

The K20Z motor has so many improvements over the K20A. Not only does it make 10 more horsepower, but the area under the curve is greatly increased. New cams, new intake manifold, new exhaust, new final drive, etc. It's basically the JDM DC5 type R.

FYI: There's guys with I/RH/E running 14.1 @ 100 MPH. In other words... with 3 bolt-ons the '05 will beat or hang with any N/A car on this forum.

While both are nice, I'd easily take the RSX-S over the tC. But I'd take the tC over a base RSX.

The only thing I never liked about the RSX is its name.....the 'Integra' name has more character than 'RSX' IMHO.

and in related news.....

"The new issue of C&D is out and this comparo was done with the results posted below.

1. RSX Type-S
2. WRX
3. SRT-4 ACR
4. Cobalt SS
5. Ion Redline

Test was limited to cars with at least 200 HP and MSRP under $25,000. That left out the Mini Cooper S and the Tiburon.

They didn't test the new Eclipse because they thought it was too soft to be competitive, VW couldn't provde a Jetta GLI, and they didn't think the A3 would be competitive."

0-60 in 6.4 and the 1.4 mile in 14.9 for the RSX.

I just wish the interior design was a little bit better. I like adjustable head restraints and more traditional styles of vents and buttons. I do like the drive though!

well it is wicked fast...and with an intake and exaust even faster. I am seriously considering this car as a replacement for teh CLS since we already have a 4 door. Or maybe I will keep the CLS..

I always liked the old names of Acura. (RSX = Integra and RL = Legend, etc.)

Sounds better than saying letters, I did that in kindergarden.

Meh... it's fast and cheap and it is still an Acura BUT... you're always shifting to keep it in the powerband (no torque), you're always reving, etc. It's a fun little car as I've been in them many times but I couldn't justify getting out of my CLS and into something so much smaller.

all the cars tested are FI-except the RSX obviously. in the article, there is a picture of all the cars from the back and they mention how the bigger the wing on each car, pretty much the worse it did. Ricers should take not of that!

While 142lb-ft (K20A2) > 130lb-ft (B18C5), that really isnt much to brag about.

What the K-series did was add cam phasing to the mix, making for a much smoother power delivery. That Jekyll/Hyde characteristic of the B18C/B16A/F20C is virtually eliminated with the K-series....and having an additional 12 lb-ft never hurts.

With 2 liters of displacement and no forced induction (i.e.: 4G63, SR20DET or EJ205), it's going to be an uphill battle to make torque.

i have 2 friends that have identical 05 rsx type s' in different colors and i drove them both. that car is a total BEAST! i love it, not to mention it pulled about 4 carlengths on my CL in a matter of seconds. if i had the money, id definitely get 1 of these, but id keep my CL cuz i need the roomy back seat to move things back and forth from college lol

I'll take the geometry of the type R over the RSX, plus it's just more pimp. While yes power is comming out of the kseries, i'm a bseries lover

B18c1 > k20

Thats impressive numbers tho for the new kseries, but everyone knows the RSX is too heavy.

Minus two extra doors Matt. Remember, not all of us are hauling around house shoppers

Not dogging it though, I like the new L-GT.

About the RSX-S.. I really like the reshaping of it, and the new motor has been raved about, and they brought back Milano Red

Not to panic...it is out of the running. Thought about it...but it is just too noisey inside. It's down to what kind of a deal can I get on a new GT or just keeping the CLS.

Well I have alot of options...but I am leaning towards keeping the CL and spending some serious cash on it to help insure it's longevity.
