Drive Safe!
Our neighbors were on their way to pick up their 12 year old son at the mall a few days ago and opted to take the back roads instead of the freeway due to traffic. They were traveling south on Scholls Ferry Road just outside Portland when an Accord Coupe made a left turn right in front of them. The guy made the turn so close he wound up hitting them head-on with a closing speed of probably 50 mph. I wish she'd been driving their Odyssey or even better, their Volvo XC90 because she has a broken tibia, broken arm, broken neck, and several broken ribs. The Passat is a total write-off and you can see they had to cut off the roof and jam up the dashboard to get her out. They had to cut the roof off the Accord, as well.

There are a lot of CARELESS drivers out there who think they are invincible when they are driving on the road. Everyone be careful out there, especially if your area has snow. It seems like people become a lot worse when there's snow on the ground.
Hope your neighbor recovers 100%

as glad they are okay
but is that driver side rear door buckled?, part of the reason for the cutting of the roof
and considering how much damage was done; they may not have "walked" away from the accident, but still got away without too many broken bones though
and yeah the volvo would have been better, in that they would have been "above" the accord, but i almost be more worried about the wheel coming into the footwell though, and completely taking out her legs instead (compared to the frame taking the impact)
and then the odyssey, again above the accord, but not much "framerail" up front though, to absorb the impact
but then again they are heavier vehicles, so the accord would have had to take more of the impact then lol

Never mess with 100,000 lbs of moving metal, hell because of that and the way people drive nowadays there is no way that I would ever drive a semi now, I would purposely say if there was an accident, "that fucker jumped in front of me and hit the brakes there was nothing I could do."
