Does everyone use cash or something? not having the closest dollar or quarter doesnt bother me.
I just filled up $10 today as an arbitrary limit while gas prices continue to fall.

My Hondas, yes. I can get almost another gallon into our Pilot by topping off. We drive it enough that it never sticks around for more than a day anyway. The S2000 I top off less because I drive it less, don't want to damage anything.
In the V, I can't top off and never do. When the pump clicks, if I squeeze even a little more, it almost spills. So it does me no good.

The part I had to replace in my 4Runner was the charcoal (or vapor) canister. It's honestly just not worth the time to sit and top it off. I've even considered leaving when I pre-paid if the pump is too slow. I've never done it, but there have been times when leaving that last 30 cents worth of gas might save me from sharting.

I usually shoot for $36.66 or $3x.69 or $46.66 ... something meaningful whether the sign of the beast or sexually depraved (both offend my parents, so, ya know).
The bonus is that if all your gas figures end like this, it is easy to spot fraud on your credit card statement without having to remember specific gas visitation.

I should admit I did that ALWAYS i did that in my old Accord and was doing that in my new TL, had no clue that it might damage my car. And I remember i even squeezed over one gallon ( ) after it stopped automatically. But got the point now. Won't do again.

Consider yourselves lucky that you have the option to "top it off" in the first place. In Oregon (& NJ) you cannot pump your own gas. It is also illegal to top off the tank. But you can legally watch a girl perform a sex act completely naked at the titty bar.

I rarely use cash to pay for gas, so I stop whenever it clicks, and maybe a little wiggling to avoid dripping gas down the quarter panel.

I always top off to the nearest .50 and occasionally put up to 3-4 extra gallons when needed. For example after Hurricane sandy in NY there was hardly any gas and stations with gas had 2-3hr lines, so whenever possible I'd hoard (gas canisters, etc) gas; after the 1st click I'd partially remove the nozzle so that only the tip was in and slowly fill up till I could literally see the gas. If you do it slowly none spills. Or when I go on long distance road trips (to Maine for example) I'll put an extra 3-4 gaallons to and from NY so I don't have to stop along the way to fill up; plus gas is cheaper up there.

I used to when i paid cash way back in the day, I always tried to get to an even dollar amount so i wouldn't have to deal with loose change. Now that i pay with cc, i don't care where it stops.

I top off all the time for the past 20+ years I've been driving, in every vehicle I've ever owned and saw no ill effect whatsoever! When my car dies or explodes in front of me due to topping it off, then I'll start to believe. Until then....top on!

Using a Credit Card - usually one click (sometimes second click just to make sure) then done...
However, if I pay by cash, I usually try to get rid my change (pennies, nickels, dimes...) so I top off to the next nearest cent just to get rid of my change - usually no more than 50 cents or so...

Always top it off ... only until the fuel pump cuts off though.

Yeah that sounds about right.

You must not drive a lot and/or have access to lots gas stations. This isn't a dig, just a observation and likely not something most drivers would want to do.
