Did i make a good purchase??

hey i got this 1991 acura legend ls coupe on saterday at the auction for 3850 cdn.
its got 159000km. only thing wrong with it is i think it needs some cv joints in the front cuz i can hear clicking during hard cornering, everything else seems to be pretty mint, no accidents or anything ( Thanx again vp911 for the carfax )

Looks like it is in good shape. I think you are right,...probably the CV joints if you hear clicking when you turn.

I dunno how to replace them, but about an hour ago (literally) I was watching a car show and they were talking about how when the CV joints start to go/fail,.....they make a clicking sound when you turn. So that sounds like what the deal with your car is.

Look out for the starter.. it might need to be replaced.. common on the C32 motor unfortunately. Otherwise a great car

took it out again today for a 30km drive, everything except the cv joint seems to be perfect, stupid power antenna goes up everytime u turn on the bose stereo even if u have it on cd, lol i am surprised the trunk mounted 6 disc changer even works. I was reading the manual and it said that i can drive the car like a standard meaning i can shift my self through the 4 gears kinda like oldschool sportshift. wonder if its a good idea??

Definitely not a good idea. If you do that, your tranny will be done in 3 months.

Looks like a good deal to me... I've got a 03 CLS 6spd, but I've got this fascination with the old legend coupes for some reason... the fascination started AFTER I bought the CLS. I've learned to stay away from the classified section of a certain legend forum...

Do NOT manually shift the auto tranny, this will wear it out prematurely and cost you a minimum of $14,000. The software is NOT meant to deal with this nor is it a substitute for "sportshift".

any idea on a resonable ball park figure for cv joint replacement?? or actually just the hours of labour it generally takes since labour prices do vary.

You shouldnt drive the car too much until you get those axles fixed. If one of those suckers gives up while you're on the road you'll be one sorry boy.

New/remanufactued axles are pretty cheap to buy and have installed. I had a new front-drivers side axle installed on my Talon for about $165 total. If I were you I would do both sides on a car that age. (usually the rubber boots split and expose the bearings.)
