demo cars

Ok guys, I found a really good deal on a demo car. I know people beat on the demo and all but since this would be a lease. Does it matter?

Does it count as a new car or would it be considered as a used car?

Do I still get the new car warranty and all?

And theres aftermarket parts installed by the dealer, they are saying it won't void the warranty but what do u guys think?

1) What kind of car is it.

2) If you are leasing or not leasing its a personal call. Myself it has to be an amazing deal for me to take demo car.

3) The car is still considered brand new, and comes with the same warranties a new car will.

4) If there are aftermarket parts, what are they? Secondly just to play safe I would get that in writing that dealer installed afermarket parts will be warrantied.

Hope it helps....

Its a 2005 G35X, with sunroof, dvd, back up camera, spoiler, wood and gold package... For $298 a month lease. $1995 down, 24 month, 12k miles

I figure I'll see if I can get it for a 36 month lease. And the aftermarket parts are dvd, backup camera, gold package(whatever that is).

Gold package is probably gold trim (emblems, etc)

If you look at the market for the G35X, they're generally families looking for a nice family car with AWD, I think getting the Demo is ok.

If you were gonna buy a G35 coupe Demo, or a 350Z demo, then I might be weary. But a G35X probably wasn't too beat on during the test drives. if you think you're getting a good deal, i would go for it.

If I had a G35X demo, I would be doing 5K launches to see how fast I
get going out of the box. Just because its a 4 door dont mean diddly.
Its an AWD 300HP car. You dont think the dealer or any of his cronies
weren't going crazy with that car???

If it is a lease, and you feel comfortable with the car after driving it,
go for it, but I would never keep that car.

When it comes to whether or not the car is considered as "new" relies on whether or not it has been titled. Traditionally, we at dealers do NOT register these cars so that they can still be sold as a new car with the fill warranty/owner benefits.

When it comes to warranty, most manufacturers (including Infiniti and Acura) state that the warranty for ownership is initiated on the date and exact mile that the car has at the time of delivery. So if you buy a car that has 5062 miles on it (like my demo), you have bumper-to-bumper coverage for (which ever comes first) 4 years from the delivery date (when you drive it off) or 55062 miles.

The "aftermarket" parts are just dealer-installed accessories that are OEM parts. You're cool there. The gold package is a trim and emblem kit that they feature as an accessory option.

I think that sounds like a pretty deal...
Even if it was beaten on, it's an Infiniti should be able to take a pretty good beating. Not only that, if your Infiniti Dealership is anything like the dealerships around here, you'll be very well taken care of if the car has to be fixed/maintained.

I wouldn't have too many reservations about taking it....

I figure people would (especially dealer people) would probably want to test the 6 speed RWD coupe more, especially since I don't think the all wheel drive model doesn't come in Manual.

And when it comes down to it, a few hundred miles of hard driving can't do THAT much damage, can it?

Seems like awfully high miles for a dealer demo to me. I usually see them in the 3-7K mile range. Probably impossible to really know, but it might be a total cupcake if it was the dealer's wife (or similar) versus the beater scenario described above. Maybe the dealer's highschool son or middle-aged executive assistant? You can trust their "story" of who drove it as a demo. Maybe get another Infiniti dealer to scope it out for $75-100. Can't hurt to make sure. Sweet car!
