That’s what you need mrmako!

Did they make non-GTR versions left hand drive?

I think all Skylines until the R35 were RHD only.
I've don't think I've ever seen a LHD R34 or earlier.

A LHD R32 would suit me just fine if it existed.

Correct... The R34 was only RHD. Only when they crossed the model over to the USDM as an Infiniti did they make LHD. So all Skylines up through the R34 were RHD.

Now, Here are two to consider if you want a JDM (these can be imported no problem)

Toyota Soarer (1990)

Or an R30 Skyline GT-R (1983)

Both nice, but if I'm importing a Skyline, it'll be an R32.

Too rich for me, but that's the color I'd opt for as a #1.

the R34 is an awesome car, but something about the R32 has always made it my favorite.

by when will you need to get a car? Have you picked something yet? How many years do you plan on keeping it.

Part of the reason I like the R34 is because that was THE car for me in GranTurismo. Also, it was this forbidden thing we couldn’t have over here. But it’s interesting that you prefer the R32 because according the info by your avatar, I’m a bit older than you, so I would have thought this would have been reversed.

So I'm getting three cars once we land on island: All Subarus: BRZ (son), Levorg (me), Forester (wife).

I'd love to have an R34 in the garage. And if a GT-R could be had for ~$50K then I would look at it. But you're not touching a decent one (not ragged out) for under $100K.

Agreed on the GranTurismo front & if you'd asked me 10 years ago, I'd likely have been all over a R34 V-Spec II

After Japan, I was in Germany for 5 years (second time in the Stuttgart area) and on one of the bases I saw an R34 GT-R V Spec II Nur..... The guy was asking $75K and I thought that was insane... Looking back, I guess not.

**UPDATE** Move is delayed until end of September. Altering the car search for the wife: Forester, Honda Vezel (HR-V). I'm still getting a Levorg or I am considering an A4 wagon.

Thought of this thread on Saturday.
I picked up a spare transmission & grille for my Midget.
Guy imports kei cars. Had a mini cargo van, a Pajero Mini, Cappuccino, 95 Mini, and 2 Daihatsu Midgets [truck (single seat manual) & wagon (jump seat auto)] and a MGF
Luckily, only the Pajero & van were outside. I'd have been too tempted if the Cappuccino were visible.

Update folks: We get there the first week of October, and a Levorg has been purchased. It will look like this one, but it's lowered a touch (and in WR Blue as well). Once I get on island I'll send a lot of pictures. And I'll continue my running Japan commentary from there. 2019 "Black Selection".

We get there later next week, but the car arrived on island. Here are the initial pics. I'll be getting rid of some aftermarket interior bits though. Just not my thing. Once I get the car I'll fire up the wagon thread with a lot of pics.

Nah, that's the name of the dealer there. Ha. He's a friend of mine and we reviewed a dozen cars. This one is a special edition, but I'm not a huge fan of the tacky carbon fiber stuff on the interior and the B pillar. I'll have to find the factory stuff and get rid if that.

Oh, the food is what I am looking forward to.

Ladies and Gents, I made it over to the Land of the Rising Sun. Here's a first pic of the car. No cleaning or detailing. The previous owner went a bit overboard with the carbon fiber look. It's going to take some time to get the car where I want, but it looks pretty clean. The one positive is the CF applique will take the beating from the sun here. That's a plus.

I promise more in the future once I get a place to live and settle in.

@Yumcha One more title change: Definitely In Japan. Appreciate it.

Thanks all. We still have a house to move into, then I can get my car cleaned and detailed a bit. The ride height is a bit low, and the suspension is STI stiff. But the roads here are mostly great, so that's a plus. The seats are super comfortable Recaros, and it's black suede / black leather with red stitching. More pics to follow but here's an English write up on the car. I have the 2.0STI, not the weak 1.6L. Granted, I came from my Volvo XC90, but this car (once the turbo spools up) is pretty quick.

@Yumcha Thanks for the change. I want to keep you guys up on this and the changes are great.

True. They (Subaru) didn't want it encroaching on WRX sales.

I'm an oddity. I have spent a lot of years in Japan before this, plus travel in England.

Usually it takes a few days to not turn into an exit or drive on the wrong side in areas without cars. It's not too bad.

I briefly [a weekend] had a RHD EK Civic SiR
Getting used to RHD wasn't bad, on roads I was already familiar with.
Going back to LHD was tougher, kept hitting the door reaching for the shifter

I would turn that transmission into a box of glitter. My left hand is amazingly uncoordinated. I also think that my 5-> 4 shifts would be 5-> 2 …

I thought that a lot of years ago when I first got here. But I adapted to it pretty quickly driving a stick (this was the late 80's, had a Datsun Sunny).
