There have been few that can keep up. About to get launch limiter and no lift shift. Launch control won't really help though. It's hard to find grip in 1st and 2nd

The DSG GTI is definitely a fun car! I had a MK6 Stage 2+ Golf R that was pretty fun, but started breaking down on me and costing lots of $$$ to fix. I switched to a Focus ST and haven't missed the R since. I wish the R had a DSG option. I would have much rather owned that. I was given a DSG MK6 GTI to drive for the day when my car was in for service and had a blast driving it around town.

Which tuner did you use on your old car to get 350 hp? I think my R was rated somewhere around 360hp at the crank when it was APR 2+ and that was with the K04. Did you upgrade the turbo?

When I test drove a DSG R years ago it almost made me go "yeah, I can totally this, this transmission is awesome"

a few years later I drove an older model manual R...and that was like "fuck me this is amazing"

I had a Unitronic Stage 2, full 3 in exhaust, Unitronic CAI, Audi R8 Ignition Coils, DSG Tune, FMIC, err I feel like I leaving out some but yeah it was up there. I could never maintain traction even at highway speeds if I got on it would break the tires loose. I loved my DSG Carbon Gray Metallic GTI

I still don't see where you're at 350hp...

Edit: I guess the website shows their stage 2+ car makes that power. Does that require a new HPFP?

Yeah but you have all that added weight. For example the R32 weighs 3,547lbs. GTI weighs 3000lbs. When you have all that added weighs plus the drivetrain loss it makes a huge difference.

Trust me even the guys at Unitronic were astounded that the car was planting down as much power as it was. The owner took it out for a spin and came back and said "Of all the cars I've tuned yours feels like its just putting down a decent amount more power than other MK6's I've tuned". I just shrugged my shoulders and said I have no idea. I mean I'm not gonna put money on 350hp but it would put lengths on the Coyotes at the track. Either way the next GTI will be KO4.

I don't doubt the car pulled hard. The stock MK6 GTI with DSG felt like it would smoke my stage 2+ R from a dig. The one thing I didn't like about the VAG tuners is that no one was able to match the numbers they claimed when owners dynoed their cars. I understand the ECU on these cars are always learning and adjusting. I'm happy to see Cobb get get into the game finally. I like being able to monitor my car and see what's going on. I also like the idea of getting a custom tune from a tuner and not a canned tune.

E., have you dyno'd the car yet since you've modded her?

Oh I know man! I really have been contemplating on either going Cobb or back to Uni. I'm really leaning towards Cobb!

Not yet. I need to. APR claims 360 at the crank with just the K04 on the 93 tune. So with the rest of the bolt ons I'm told it's 400 or so. After the clutch upgrade its just ridiculous fast

I rarely go full boost, its just fucking retarded. After the last tune update, they made it as linear as they could. So it steps up the boost now...well sort of.

I remember back when I thought I had an issue so I did a bunch of data logs. The engineer called me and said "dude you're not going WOT, you keep letting off" So internally I must have kept shitting myself.

Its a ton of fun for that car.

Tuning/Chip FAQ Thread: Which One Do I choose? - VW GTI MKVI Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVI Forum / VW GTI Forum - Golfmk6.com

Here is a thread that about tuners available for the GTI. They all post dyno charts of their tunes at the crank, wheels, or both. All of these tunes are just a flash of the ECU that don't require datalogging or dyno runs to tweak the tune to the specific vehicle. Since you don't have to do any tweaking to the tune, most people don't dyno their car and assume it makes what the tuners claim. The few threads I read about people throwing their car on the dyno, the results were usually lower than they were expecting.

Since Cobb finally cracked the ECU code, pro tuners are able to write custom tunes for that specific vehicle. Here is a good example of what the difference is with a custom tune vs a flash tune.

Go with the Cobb. I love being able to monitor what's going on with the engine and making sure the car is running safe. Are there any good pro tuners popping up on the forums?

I intend to break 390hp, I'll need to upgrade to a slightly bigger turbo which won't run me much. In all actuality about $2500 and 390hp would be easily achieved. 390hp in a 2800lbs GTI would be absolutely killer. Even with me running the stock turbo before it was a monster but I want to go the extra mile this time

And yes DSG is definitely faster than a manual there is no arguing with that, it's so much fun. In all honesty I have just as much fun with a DSG than I do with a manual and that's saying something!
If you are talking about getting 390hp out of a 2.0T with no internals your rods are going to bend like rubber bands. I know this because I have an Audi with a 2.0T Stage One. Good luck. Pfffffft.

UPDATE: So I've been encountering some issues with the Acura recently. AFS flashing, transmission hard shifting, and the AC compressor has completely seized on me at this point. So the Acura has been hard parked. I made the decision last night that I'm not about to have a transmission rebuild done, and the ac compressor replaced, flushed and recharged. To me the car just isn't worth the money. It's almost to 164k miles now and I'm already in the car a pretty penny so I've decided to wipe my hands clean and walk away from it.

I contacted my sales guy today to give him a deadline. 2 weeks. I said 2 weeks I'll be coming in and driving off the lot with an MK6 GTI DSG so start finding my MK6. So he is now on the hunt for my new car
