Decided on a new car! 2005 GT

I have been looking for a new car for a while now. I really wanted a 350Z, but from my experience with Nissan, customer service is non-existent and the quality of there products is piss poor. I looked at the STi, Evo, S2K, and used C5's. After a few months of changing my mind, I decided to get a 2005 Mustang GT Premium. I haven't decided on the color, but Torch Red or Black is probably what I am going with. I really like the retro theme of the car. It reminds me of my friends 1969 Mach I a little bit. My dad had a 1966 Stang as his first car, so I have always be interested in these cars. Give me your guys opinion which color looks better. I am kind leaning towards red, but black blends better into traffic.

I had the 94 gt... the first year of that generation... drove it to 130,000 with not one problem other than normal maintenance.

I am 95% sure I will be buying an 05 black gt when they come out to replace my cl-s.

this is why I think I get amazing service with Acura because I used to have a Ford Taurus.

they are not out in dealers yet... I haven't been following it closely, all I hear is 'Fall 04'.

to throw in my own , I said 95% I will get this car. that 5% was in case I test drove it and wasn't impressed. I can't really imagine that happening though... I love the look of the car and I have never driven a mustang that has let me down performance wise.

I saw one and sat in it, and gave my review.

There is a Ford Dealer less than 5 minutes from my house where my mom bought a car a long time ago. The service department was always really helpful with her. I expect average service at Ford, whereas Nissan is percieved as a little more quality product because it is foreign. This is not the truth in my own experience coupled with an incompetent service department at my local Nissan dealer.

I am only putting a refundable deposit down. If I don't like the way the car handles, I won't buy it. I really love the interior and exterior styling. The car comes with a lot of features that I would like. It doesn't come with heated seats or HID's which I would like. This car isn't a high end vehicle though, so I can live without them or buy aftermarket parts to add them down the road.

I plan on taking the car to the track, but it will be modified first. Also, my friend and I are going to buy a 125cc shifter kart next spring. I like to modify cars and Mustangs are a great platform. The old GT's and Cobra's were decent handling cars even with the wet noodle chassis they were working with. The 2005 GT is on a very solid chassis. I read a idependent review and the guy compared the chassis and steering to a 3 series. I will most definetly lower the car and put 275/?/18's all around with summer tires. I am not going to do too much to the car because I have a goal of buying a C6 Z06 in 3 years.

Looks good in black. I would consider the dark gray color if they are offering it . I had a 97 GT and I loved it. Have fun with it if you decide to buy.

My Ford dealers service department is as good....if not better then my Acura service.....Arlington Heights Ford's Service department is awesome....and I went to school with the head SVT tech. Personally....I wouldn't buy a 1st run American car....If you really want...wait a year.

I've sta in one and kinda raced one at a road course and was very impressed. The stock tires worth nothing and the wheels definitely need to be wide ass 18's & a drop is in order.

Get the black with the red interior with the aluminum accents, that would look so badass.

And to all you Ford haters, 87k on my 94 GT and zero problems. They are not exactly the most sophisticated cars, but they can take a shitload of abuse and always sound awesome with aftermarket exhaust. The new platform should do wonders for handling, and dont forget 13" brakes standard & better gearing.

Tell me thats not pimp looking, and I dont like the torch red, too bright. The Redfire a touch darker than the older Laser Red, but it looks alot classier than the Torch red, imo.

It doesnt take alot of mods to get the current gen to handle well. Mine has mostly drag oreiented suspension pieces and I road-race it with lots of sucess. Dont believe everything the mags tell you. They tend to be overly harsh on items they feel are flaws. Ie I-Drive, Live rear axles, C5 interior, high hp FWD's, etc etc.

Wow,

actually going to buy a Ford product.... my family used to buy exclusively American cars for yrs...

the last straw was when we purchased a Ford.... The dealership was trying to tell us that the engine needed to be replaced because some filter was clogged and the engine was in danger...

they were pressuring my mom to sign the work order and my mom (short- hardcore- Indian woman)
basically told them to eat shyt and went to a small local tuneup shop where the guy changed us 10 bucks for an oil change...

he was like.... no your engine is fine...

Ford as a company is shady... and their product is cheap and not well put together...

Sure they look great, but take a look at your resale in a few years as well...

enjoy the Stange for what its worth, I am in Detroit... so I have already seem a million of them..

Not that impressive.... but enjoy none the less....

Well, if you would have brought your ass out to our last autoX event to show us how you mastered FWD. you would have seen how well they handled in person.

Yeah....but they fixed the hood...noquestions asked. You should see how carefull they are with it now. I took it in for its first oil change....only one guy touches it...my friend from high school....and it always stays in his 2nd bay.

I must give Ford props for changing up the interior. But they could still get away from the washer and dryer looking HVAC controls. The new Mustang looks awesome, just needs to be dropped and new wheels and tires.

I've love the new Supercharged Cobras, but I was never crazy about the interior thats like 10 years old. Domestic automakers need to do a better job with the interiors. I think thats one of their biggest down falls

yeah if your gonna buy a Ford, either the black or if they offer it it a graphite gray color... those colors always look good...

ford also has a black metallic that is sweet...

not sure what colors will be offered with the GT...

Went into my local Ford dealership and was told it would take 4-6 months for me to get one. I am going to call around other local dealerships and see if I can get it sooner. They are letting me use the Ford X-plan, which is basically invoice, which is a steal

Well X-plan is 4% over invoice, and I would still try to get some $$$ off sticker.
