Dealer Gouging-Pikes Peak Acura

Pikes Peak Acura in Colorado Springs is up to their old tricks. The new TLs that they're getting in include a "Rocky Mountain protection package & adjustment" for $1,995 and window tint for $995. They're also charging above SRP for accessories (e.g., decklid spoiler for $695!).

I'm buying my '04TL from another dealer due to these business tactics.

Which is exactly what you should do.

I think VTEC.net has a delaer network that at the very least will never charge you over MSRP.

Maybe you could let Junkster know where you get the deal. Junkster has a bad experience with Pikes Peak Acura too.

Pikes Peak Acura is also charging $1,895 for the front/side/rear underspoilers, which have a SRP of $1,273.

Now that Acura.com has pricing on the '04TL accessories, Pikes Peak Acura's $1,895 for the front/side/rear underbody spoilers represents a 77% premium over suggested retail price of $1,073.

I just e-mailed and told them that if this is true, they're way out of line. We'll see if I hear anything back.

I think Acura should change the name to Honda+. Most Lux dealerships don't do this kind of over MSRP. except common car dealership. shame on Acura.

I think that most Acura dealships don't charge over MSRP either, but there are a few greedy bad apples that do.

dealer quotes for the accessories usually include the labor...but the $1895 still means $800+ for labor which is a ripoff...try calling the parts dept directly and see how much the kit/accessories cost(without labor), usually I find parts dept prices inline with acura.com MSRPs.

I posted on the other thread about my experience, and I have to say taht the TL price was insane!!! I saw it on my way into the dealership. They were charging 39,000 for the sucker!!!!

As for a better buying experience, I decided to take my business to Mile High or Flatiron, where there is more selection as well.

Junkster, who wasn't impressed with the TL much...

Heck Im getting ready to move to Anchorage Alaska---So I called the "only" dealer up there and they have a $1995 mark-up on all there cars! I said is there room to play with the TL and he said well we dont do to much when its a HOT car.

SO I need to decide if Im buying one down here in the states or take my chances up there and maybe work a deal or have a TL shipped to me from washington State or Seattle???

By the way, they dont even expect there forst cars until 2 more weekks---I said its killer wait till you get it!!

I just stopped at my dealer.. they're charging $795 for the decklid (lip) spoiler.

P.S. It was bolted on, not just stuck on with adhesive.

P.P.S. That was on a 2004 TL (white).

I'm not defending the Colorado boys but the prices probably include labor Acura's prices on the website do not.

Most people cant install a spoiler or full underbody kit. Its not like you can blame anyone if you screw it up. Hell if I know how to do something and you dont I would charge you. Look at plumbers......

front under spoiler white diamond nh-603p(18) Note! 385.00
rear under spoiler white diamond nh-603p(19) Note! 409.00
side under spoiler white diamond nh-603p(19) Note! 479.00

Those are the Acura installed prices straight from Acura. The only other thing to consider is that some dealers charge more for an hours labor then other but the prices should be very similar.

385 I'm guessing thats installed
Acura's MSRP is 329 so the labor rate is $56 for however long it takes. Somehow I dont see ANY Acura dealership charging that much. I think that the average labor rate is $75-$80/hour ..
