Damn dealer!!

Even though I used to work at an Acura dealership, I still have to say that dealerships are scumbags!!!
This weekend I went home to have lunch with my parents, since it was the 4 of us we drove the MDX. I noticed one of the tires was a little low on air so I stopped to fill it. My fiance went into the glove box to get the tire gauge and BOOM, half the glove box fell on the floor! My parents recently took the car in for a service and they changed the cabin air filter so I knew the dealership was the last to take the glove box off. My dad took it in today and they said they needed to special order the part and that the dealership is not responsible since it's been almost a month since they last had the car. My dad doesn't speak perfect English so I guess they thought they could take advantage of him. He quickly called me and I spoke to the service guy. Apparently there is a tab underneath the glove box in the dash that broke. How the heck would two old people get under there to break the tab off?? After putting the guy in his place he placed the order and said they would take care of everything. Dealerships are such scum bags and always try to rip people off!!

Notes:
Dealer broke a tab on the glove box
box fell
dealer tried to blame my parents and charge them
put service guy in his place and dealership is taking care of it
I don't get to say I WIN until the part comes in and actually fix it..

Ok, I'm done, just wanted to bitch during lunch.

Exactly why I stopped going to the ack dealership, they're shady and charge too much. That and the fact that my brakes failed TWICE on the car while driving, after they worked on my brake system.

The cabin air filter must be the biggest rip off...A $5 part installed in 2 mins for about $120

Ask your folks how much they were charged...Should keep your blood boiling.

I'll tell you what dealer after they fix it. I know the service manager is on this site. Last thing I want is them not fixing it because of my rant.
My parents normally let me do everything, now that I moved further away I kept pushing it back. I'm not sure which day it was but in January/February sometime it was like 70 degrees and they turned the air on and it spelt like feet. They couldn't take the smell so they took it in. I blame myself for not getting to it faster. Probably wouldn't have a broken glove box either.

Well if he's on this site, then he prob knows it's you. I doubt there's that many glove box service calls.
LOL smelled like feet!!! Gotta stop smoking in the car.

Good point. I guess I'll find out when the part comes in. No smoking in the car. Not sure why it smelt like feet.

If I'm correct (and my bro-in-law used to work as a mechanic at Acura) in order to replace the MDX filter, they actually have to cut out a metal support piece and if they mess it up, they have to replace the entire plastic structure supporting the glove box. Sounds like they are trying to pin it on you rather than admitting they f'd up.

The first time I changed the cabin filters myself, it took me like 10 minutes to get the glovebox out and the new filters in. Cost me a whole $15 for 2 filters, as opposed to the $100 the dealer wanted for parts and labor.
