Drive in D5. If you leave it in D4 - your tranny will not go any higher than the gear selected (4th), so when you accelerate beyond the capabilities of fourth, your car will just continue revving RPMs to its limit instead of changing gears....it would be unable to...you're essentially telling it not to go beyond whatever gear you leave it in.
