Hi. sorry i may be posting this in the wrong section, but being a newby, hope you can forgive me.
ACURA CSX 2007 automatic, bought used 3 months ago. I have a noise I believe is coming from the engine, only when the car is into DRIVE mode and in IDLE (ie. stopped at a light), no noise in Neutral, and noise is either not audible or disappears when the car is moving. I have also tried turning the wheels left and right when in DRIVE and IDLE, but no difference in noise level, as you still hear it.

describe what kind of noise to the best of your abilities.

 

sounds like a timing belt sound, squeaking rapidly, like a rusty wheel...not too loud, just annoying. i forgot to say that the sound isn't there at start, it makes itself noticeable when the engine has warmed up.

 

your accessory belt maybe? Get some belt conditioner and spray it on it while the motor is running. If the sound goes away odds are its the belt. If so replace belt.

 

thanks. the belt is fine, i checked and also had it verified by a garage. I have 85K's on the car. could it be my water pump?
