and wow you lucky bastard! I'm jealous.... but then again who in their right mind would let any 19 year old drive their Ferrari?

As far as letting someone borrowing my car, letting it be out of my sight for a few days, hell no. I've let a few people drive my car though, but I was riding shotgun every time. Usually its contingent on me being able to drive their car too, either that or I trust them a lot.

Just from reading your posts I would let you drive my car... since you have an M5 and used to have a 335i and, so you have experience with powerful RWD cars (plus you've driven a 360!) and you seem like an alright guy, plus I might be able to get behind the wheel of your M5.

kidding.... but would I let one of my high school buddies who've only driven FWD Hondas/Toyotas? Hells no.... and besides, I've already driven plenty of Accords, Civics and Integras already.

I let my dad use my car on occasion. He knows how much I take care of it, and when he uses it he does the same. My mom unfortunately will never be allowed to drive my car for her lack of care. I have let my brother drive it once. No one else. Not even my best friend, he won't let me drive his car either. Strictly up to the owner and how much you trust that person. You also have to think about how responsible they will be while driving your car. ex. parking, not dogging it out, and not running up the miles on joy rides.

I don't even let my g/f borrow my beater. and it has over 300k on it.

I let my parents occassionally borrow them because 2 reasons
#1. they're my parents and if they jack up my car they got the money to fix it.
#2. i'm in the will

My father can borrow my car anytime, my best friends if they need it. We have a respect for each others cars, but most of the time one of us only drive it when the other is drunk and sitting in the passanger seat.

No, definitely not. You don't want to do this. You have to wonder where does someone get off asking and then expecting you to let them use your property.. your car.

Don't do it.

Wow, lots of replies, thanks! After saying no, he tried convincing me again but then i got annoyed and told him to stop asking me. He was still bitter about it but I dont really care. My car is safely parked in my building garage with overinflated tires and a car cover on it for the next month :-).

I'm back in NY now and am now driving the TL. Man I missed this car. I need to give it some TLC as it's been sitting outside for the last 10 months without any protection or washes. To top it off, my dad ended up parking the car with the nose out in case the battery dies and he needs to jump start the car, but that put the front seats directly in the sun for most of the day, so they have taken a beating. Need to Lexol them up tomorrow :-).
