convertables --- gay or yay?

So i'm looking at E46 M3's and like 10% of me thinks a convertable would be cool. I would use it alot, but i'm afraid i'll feel like a queer. Whenever I see guys in verts I always laugh at them and think what a douche. I'm also trying to decide if the m3 vert looks as good as the hardtop

They are heavy fawkers and if you plan to track then they might not pass tech.

But if you want it for style, then go for it queer. :teehee:

It depends

M3 cabs are cool... S2000 is cool...

Vw Cabriolet is ghey.... Mazda Miata is ghey...

Boxster is a grey area (I'm thinking ghey, but the right guy might be able to pull it off).

One of the VP's at work has a 2005 M3 cab (with hard top) in black metallic... looks great. It replaced his old 2002 (or so) Imola red one (also with a hard top).

I look at it this way, cabriolets (unless AMG/M/911) are :ghey: .SC430/645 is a toss up. In general, roadsters (Boxster/SL/Vette) are not :ghey: , but there are some (Z4/SLK/Miata) that I would consider to be a man lover mobile.

Don't see why it would be :ghey:. It's an M3, not a Sebring.

Im not a huge vert guy, but there are some that are pretty cool.

To go a little further since for some reason I can't edit my own post, heres what I think:

UBER :ghey:
PT Cruiser, Sebring, Solara, Thunderbird, Miata, Mini Cooper, Eclipse, MR2, Beetle

Semi :ghey:
325CI, Z4 2.5, Crossfire, Mustang V6, Boxster, CLK320/350,

Toss Up
A4, TT, 330CI, 645CI, Z4 3.0, Crossfire SRT-6, XK8, SC430, CLK500, SLK350, 350Z (See alot of women driving these)

No worries
S4, M3, XLR, Vette, Viper, Mustang GT, S2000, XKR, CLK55, Any SL, SLK55, Any 911, Boxster S

Nice rating guide and it made me feel more confident about my S2k.

Although, calling something "uber :ghey:" may be more :ghey: than driving a Solara rag top! Just my

Remember M3's come in coupe, cab, and cab w/ hardtop option...

Don't confuse the coupe with a cab with the hardtop option. That makes it confusing

Except that the Audi TT belongs in uber :ghey:, and move Thunderbird to Semi :ghey:. The TT is even too gay for me to drive.

I think the only convertibles I would honestly buy would be something with a hardtop convert mechanisim. Soft tops just don't look good to me when up

Mini Cooper should be in a class of Ultr-Uber gheyness all it's own.

I've yet to see a woman or straight-looking male drive one...ever...really...

I'd also move the A4 and 350z into the safe category...the cost factor & pimpness runs strong with these two verts.

That sounds about right to me. You have to ask yourself if your a convertible car guy or not, some people just don't like it. I know I will have a 'vert out of the no worries catagory at some point in my life - though it may be something not on the least(Elise).

Yea, i'm leaning towards a coupe, if I ever really want a vert I can steal our 58 caddy or my dads C5. Thanks for talking me out of it for now

Although I might put the CLK55 in the 'Toss Up' category, I generally agree. You could also add the 03-04 Terminator to the 'No Worries' category.

I'm not sure if it means anything but, my wife wants a vert WAYYYY more than I do. If it's not a C5/C6, Terminator or S2000 then I'm not too interested in a vert.

Get the coupe. The M3 vert is :ghey:

Just imagine sitting in a crowded parking lot, waiting in your car for the top to close. That image, right there, is :ghey: as it gets.

"hold on, guys, I have to put my top up."

I think just for the fact that is a BMW 3 series convertible is what adds to the gheyness factor. You know what I am sayin?

Convertables are not gay, certain cars are gay.

A PT Crusier is gay any way you slice it, vert or hardtop, but a 360 Modena is as pimp as can be, Spyder or not.
