confession...........

Had opportunity to have a 05 g35 sedan over the weekend. Very impressed. Only had 400miles on the car but....wow. Interior fit and finish was great. As expected some odd cheap plastic in some places but wow I rag on the g35 alot but i'm pretty impressed.

PROS: Solid build. 85mph feels like 55mph. Great suspension tuning. Great bass and sound clarity to the limits. Very responsive AT. Didn't really need to drop into the SS.

CONS: Seats although snug left me feeling a little tired after driving. Access to window buttons limited by handrest. No autodim mirror. HVAC isn't so straightforward.

The premium package comes with the autodim mirror. The coupe seats are a bit better than the sedan IMO. The controls are really confusing and doesn't seem to get better as you get more familiar with the rest of the car

When you start equiping some cars with the features that come standard on an Acura, you quickly see why Acuras are an outstanding value.

I haven't spec'd out an G35 yet, but I know that the way I had the Bmw 330 spec'd it was about $42K (10K more then I wanted to spend).

Zapata nailed it with the statement "nissan\infiniti is so ala carte w/ everything."

They have a decent base price, but once you start added stuff like "premium packages", the price starts climbing quickly.

I looked at an auto G35x with roof, leather, XM and 6 disc at $34K for the ol lady.

I can live without the navi...but for $34K, that's a steal(300 HP ain't bad either).

With the RL @ 49k, a loaded G35X still runs over $10k cheaper....not chump change IMHO. Good review though.

Thats a great deal. It only has 280hp though and not 300 (for 05). The older ones only had 260hp.

Useless for when? The 10 days it snows out of the year?........RWD is perfect in Spring, Summer, Fall.

And for the winter, 2 words.......snow tires. They work like a charm. You live in PA, not Buffalo.

The whole "RWD sucks in the snow" is a bunch of nonsense, you just need the right shoes.

I was looking at Caddy CTS & couldn't believe how little of that stuff was standard on the Caddy. The same goes for a G35.

I'm up here in Danbury CT most of the time and it snows quite a bit more here than in NY or PA and I get through the winter fine with my Z using Blizzak's.

I also have an Accord and the crazy thing is that my Z with the snow tires gets around better in the snow than my Accord. It performs the same when getting up and going from a stop, but the Z stops and steers better.

RWD + good snow tires = fine for snow.

Yes, it's more expensive to have to buy a new set of tires, but it's worth the cost driving a well balanced and fun to drive car the rest of the year.

Zapata: I think hell just froze over

Just kidding! Great review. I sat in the 05 G35 at the car show and I was impressed with the improvements made to the interior.

The 6-speed G35s would have been a great drive.. 298hp and a 6-speed in a 4-door is sweet.

I get a giggle every time I hear rwd sucks in the snow... It sounds like my mom She's 60 and has a hard time in the snow.

I guess alot of people have grown up w/ fwd cars. I've never had a problem with RWD in snow. Most of the time the plows and sanders have been out before I hit the road anyways.

I had the right shoes on my previous car, a GS300 and saw my life flash by me way too many times...
The G35x gives a good compromise between rwd and awd only because in regular conditions, 100% of the power is in the back, driving the car like a conventional rwd car. When there is slippage, it automatically transfers power to the wheels as needed. That's why I got one!

In terms of pricing, my car maxed out at $38,600 MSRP with Nav and Premium (including the intelligent key), but you'd be dumb to even think about paying a price even close to that. More realistically, you can be driving a car identical to mine for somewhere around $36,000.

Oh yeah, and zapata, you should have put the car into manual mode, you would have been able to see how the computer so intelligently matches the revs on downshifts so you don't feel like you just rear ended someone when downshifting.

Never had a problem here, nobody I know either.......so maybe its your driving?

There are guys (for example) running Blizzaks on S2ks and have no problems at all.

These are my confessions....

Just thought of that song when I saw this thread

And most people prefer FWD compared to RWD in the winter, becuase until recently most cars except for performance cars were FWD. I agree with the snow tires, but it is easier to drive a car like the CL vs. a G in the winter (and I have driven both in the winter). Although your right that it only really snows a few times a year, and even then you could just stay home.

I love the interior of the new Gs, but the prices are also creeping up slowly as well, making it seem less like a steal compared to when it came out.

If you can afford a G35, then you can afford a dedicated snow tire/rim package.

not necessarily the issue.....RWD is RWD in the snow. Driving around with crap in the trunk in addition to tires and rims etc., sorry....maybe ok for some....

As I mentioned I live in a very hilly area of northern CT and I have never had an issue with my Z in the snow. Also, I don't have anything in my trunk - the Blizzak's grip fine on their own and the car's close to 50/50 weight distribution helps.

i convinced my cousin to put blizzaks on his Z and he has had no issues since then. The right tires make a huge difference.

This acura is the first FWD car i have owned. RWD can be driven in the snow usually with no problem BUT, FWD makes it a no brainer. Seriously, as long as you don't drive like a jackass you should never have a problem. RWD you have to be on your toes. just my :twocents:
