QFT. \ Granted, the early models sacrificed considerable interior amenities (cheap plastic, lame center console, weird instrument cluster) to keep the cost in the low 30Ks but the exhaust note of the VQ engine made all that irrelevant and it's still considered one of the elite engines of this era.

This thread is all OVER the frickin' place.
That said (and to be certain this is officially mentioned ad nauseum), the 350Z and CL-S are NOT comparable.

After going back and reading the OP, I realized he is not comparing the two modles. He just wanted impressions on the 350Z. I think he itended it for the CLS guys maybe to give some contrast between the two. Just as a base for making his decission. Since he already has a CLS-6. Not just which is better.
Either way I think monkeybutt got his answer.

I'm gonna pass on the Vette.
Then I tried an '07 G35 w/ auto. This car was okay, but I'm gonna pass.
a tuner 350z? hard to live w/ on the street.
I tried out an '06 Miata. Pass again.
I didn't get to drive a normal/stock 350Z, but after the test drives I really appreciate my CL-S6 and even my old TL a lot more.

like you've said and like we have all proven here...but it is true the CL-S6 gives you everything you want and is a superior car in that it is well rounded...
I think it is time for a S/C on your CL-S6, with ONLY 3 psi, you will see 275whp if you currently have a stock engine, and 305 with headers as well... that 350z was probably 6psi plus...
save your money, buy S/C, and your worries/problems are long gone!!
i mean why get another car??
and Cl FWD SPEED, i dont think anyone is getting a 370z for under $18k. lol

Something like a 330Ci would be a better comparison to a CL-S. 350Z is a sports car...accelerates powerfully, sharp handling, touchy inputs, hard to see out of, and kind of an egronomical mess compared to a luxury coupe like a CL-S, E46 coupe, or even it's sibling G35C.
You'd just have to spend some time in one to understand. I like mine, but it took some getting used to comming out of a luxury coupe myself (04 325Ci)

This a totaly unfair coparision (apples to oranges) The CLS
should be compared to G35 Coupe which IMO is a better car thats almost twice as expencesive and not 2 twice as good but I personally need a big trunk to fill with stereo equipment IMO.

double the price? a 03 6MT CL-S's with 54k is runnin over 12k around my area and 03-04 G's with 65k+ miles are runnin below 15k.
acura/honda hold better resale values than nissan/infiniti that or G/Z's are just dirt cheap now since they have the G37/370z now?
i orginially had a 01 CL-S and now sporting a 05 G35 6MT. and from my opinion not because im biased...the G35 is the better all around SPORTS COUPE . the CL-S was defineatly a great car and probably my most comfortable car ive owned, had small things the G didnt have i.e side mirror defrosters/bigger trunk/more comfortable seats/seats the would go back to original position after you let someone in the back/overall ride is probably a LITTLE bit more comfier. the CL sort of reminded me of a luxury sedan with decent straight line speed.
but.. if we are talking terms of the performance id go with the G. the G has a much more raw feeling compared to the CL more connected to the road and handles WAY better than the CL. you guys all have to admit it handled like a boat. better straight line performance. i personally think G's look sick but looks are pretty subjective. interior is subjective. RWD>FWD. and lets not forget the aftermarket is HUGE for the G compared to the CL (if your looking for more performance).
if i was looking for comfort with some performance i probably wouldve chose the CL-S6 but i was looking for performance with some comfort so i picked the G.
and seriously if you want luxury just buy a lexus and call it a day.
