Clutch Problems....

Well I drive an 03 accord and just about two days ago my clutch has started messing up and it is really light and really easy to push in and does not have the firmness and toughness that it used to have so it takes no pressure at all to push it down and i was just wondering how i could fix this problem. Do i need a new Clutch? Would Bleeding the Clutch help? and I was looking online earlier and I found something about a Pressure Plate but not exactly sure what that is and what it does any advice would be helpful thanks in advance.

Sup bro,
you could bleed the clutch master cylinder and see what it does. You might just need to add fluid. Your pressure plate is what goes over the clutch disc and it's main purpose is to ingauge and disingauge the clutch disc from the flywheel. I heard before if you lose pressure on the clutch pedel, its most likely a clutch master cylinder problem. One thing i would like to know is if the you r able to drive the car normally or is it really hard to put into gear and get out of gear? Let me know. I hope this helps.

how many miles do you have on the car? If you r still within the factory bumber to bumber warranty, then i would just take it to the dealer and have them deal with it, but just tell them that the clutch pedel is loose!

probably a lhydraulic leak. could be the slave cylinder. this is the usual souce of this type of problem. it's located at the end of the clutch hydraulic line on the trans housing. you can probably see it if you look over the trans housing where it meets the engine. could be on top, bottom, front or rear. if it's leaking you'll see signs of fluid.

could also be the clutch master cylinder as well. they can go bad. you probably won't see any signs of fluid on the master cylinder though. somehow they leak internally instead of out in the engine bay. you might see signs of it in the interior of the car on the firewall where the shaft engages w/ the pedal. but i doubt it.

have the hydraulic system checked by a competent mechanic.

it could also be a damaged pressure plate. this is where the tension in the clutch system comes from. it's rare for them to break, but it can happen.

you can try for some warranty sympathy from the honda dealer. but since the clutch is considered a wear item i wouldn't count on it.

good luck.
