GTO holds 4, has awesome interior, same reliability as the Corvette (same engine & tranny), and is priced right! 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, independent suspension all-around, ADN better gas mileage than the RX-8. How could you go wrong?

Have you considered an A3?

Not really. Not a big fan of "wagon" styling at the moment. And from what I hear, the price tag is a bit high, breaking the $30k mark with options.

I think I would go with a TSX over an A3.

New Mustang GT? If you're thinkin' about the GTO, the GT wouldn't be a bad place to cross shop. I absolutely love the interior on those stupid things. They feel so much more solid than the previous gen.

I remember reading somewhere in a comparo of the two. Apparently the Mustang edged out the GTO despite the GTO's crazy ass engine.

IMO though.. GTO I'd love it as my next car. Asian dude driving a GTO. That shit would just look screwey.

18 mpg for the RX8!!!! That in itself would make me hesitate on buying that damn thing.

For a Pontiac, I really liked the interior of the GTO. My coworker has a red 04 GTO and the interior is surprisingly nice. And its a beast on the road! I think he got his for like $28,000 last year.

The red leather interior on the GTO looks pretty sweet. Pontiac definitely did a great job on bolstering up the interior.

Put in a few inquiries at local dealers.....suprisingly the hounding calls haven't begun yet. Can't wait to take one for a spin.

The new GT's are pretty nice too. Not sure if I'd actually get one, but it wouldn't hurt to take a look. Even the GTO is a long shot, unless it completely blows me away.

I'm thinking the same thing, but the Ford dealer around the corner has the balls to MARKUP his Mustang GTs by $1500 for "market demand." He oughta be slapped! That's why teh GTO is a better bargain right now, especially with the GM Employee discount for EVERYONE promo going on until july 5.

The new mustang is no where near as fast as the GTO 6.0. Hell even the 5.7 GTo is faster. The new GTO with a good driver can do low 13's and some high 12's have been done. The new mustang is a mid to high 13 second car, with a lot of people breaking low 14's.

Well, I don't think he's trying to get to the strip on a regular basis, especially if the RX-8 is in contention. I'd consider the GT to be a milder version of the GTO, but the GT is actually getting sticker price PLUS a premium, which is ridiculous. The GTO is a much better bargain, with better performance, to boot. The Mustang does 0-60 isn about 5.1 whereas the GTO is 4.6. Fairly big difference. That's near Ferrari territory. Plenty of aftermarket parts for either car, though.

Yup, the '05 GTO has more hp, more torque, bigger brakes, split exhaust, slightly meaner looks, & better acceleration than the '04. What more could you ask for except HID and Navi? Dealers are regualrly putting sunroofs in, since they're not available from the factory.

I know you said you didn't want a sedan, but how about an IS300? They are under 30k for the 5MT, brand new, MSRP. RWD, handle very well, very well put together, Toyota reliability. But they are kinda slow...

Haven't had time for a GTO test drive. Been talking to Juniorbean regarding his RX8 that's for sale.

I've thought about the IS300, but the styling is VERY old.....I'm sure it will look outdated very soon.

So what makes cars look "old" these days? Besides clear tail lights.

Well "old" is definitely a relative term. Just meaning that the particular style has been out since the IS300's inception. So what was once "hot" and "new" back in 2001 (i think?) has definitely lost its luster in 2005. I'm just assuming that in the next year or two, as soon as the new models hit the road.....the 300's will look "old," or outdated to use a better term.

JMO, I honestly do like the IS300 however.

Read up on the Rx-8's, Consume oil like crazy, problems with cold engine starts. But hey nice warranty.
I like them, but after a little reading, they're ok for someone else.

RX8 is a really nice car, but they're still sorting out problems with it. Plus the gas mileage sucks. The highest most people are getting is 19 mpg. As long as you don't mind the trips to the shop or the gas mileage, go for it. The car handles great and it's a lot of fun to drive.
