^^Yea, but there was one episode where he was arguing something about the Ford GT motor is British or the tranny is British and this and that or something. I still consider it an American car, but whatever.

He got rid of it, and then bought it back 2 months later. Rumor has it he's now contemplating selling the GT and buying a Gallardo Spyder.

Decisions decisions... His bitching may be justified if the UK actually made any cars, but since we own all their companies...

You forgot they own the rights to Rover as well. Although the company pretty much doesn't exist anymore.

Morgan is still a British company, as is Noble.

Clarkson's argument for the Ford GT as was that it was developed by engineers from all other countries. Frame by Lotus, etc etc. The idea was that American engineers did not truly build the car from the ground up. So it's not really an "American" car.

That Caddy really rocks, so what if it's not as refined as the Euro cars.

have you spent much time behind the wheel of an XLR? Just curious, my dad rented one for a week from enterprise before getting his 997, the rattles, shoddy interior work, etc definately leads me to my opinion. I've pretty much heard the same results from people who have owned them for short periods

i'll say my GTo is on par w/ build quality, that should tell ya something (although I have no rattles yet)

You tell me belt, if you were looking for a grand tourer, would the XLR-V even be in your top 5?

Well, yes I have.....my oldman has an 07 V.

And I can say is that the quality is absolutely there. Its just as good as the new XK, simply no question about it. You can't confuse a simple interior, with lack of quality. Regardless, more time is spent on the V's build and interior than a garden variety XLR....that's known. The engine for one is handbuilt at the performance center (next to the LS7).

Of course the XLR-V would be in my top 5 when it comes to a lux roadster, how many are there anyway? Given that no high end roadster holds its value these days, sorry the new XK won't in typical Jag fashion, the SLs certainly aren't, and the XLR won't either.

I would only lease one and the XLR-V is unbeatable in that regard.

I'm talking oh about approx $500/month less than a comparable SL550 Sport. Also the V is on a 27 month term and the SL 36 months.

After spending several hours with an SL550, it was nice but I didn't think it was amazing. People bitch about quality in the V, how about the extremely cheesy ass light gray plastic headliner in the SL550? It is a huge eyesore.

Not sure what you drove, but the V is tight and drives great. I'm not going to say the vehicle you drove didn't rattle, I'm sure it did. Just like german cars rattle as well.

Also, the XLR-V is an extremely limited car and its exclusive. If you get an SL, hope you don't care about seeing one on every corner.

How many miles does your dad have on his V? The one we rented had close to 15K so maybe that was some of the problem. I agree whole heartedly w/ your review of the SL.

Well, certainly not 15k miles.......its a fairly new car.

But if you look at the forums, you see people mainly complain about the first year 04s and some 05s here and there.

Obviously, they aren't perfect. But after having many makes and models, no car is perfect.

If its not one thing, its another.
