CL vs BMW 325 ic

How does the CL match up with a 325 coupe. Really though, no grand fantasies about blowing the bimer by 7 car lengths or anything?

Ok 325 coupe stick shift, does not compare to CL-S. And if you have one and live in brooklyn I can show it to you. A buddy of mine has 325 manual transmission, so we raced. Since he had the manual he took off from the start much faster and was about 2 car lengths in front which I was spinning wheels, and since I forgot to turn of traction that did not help my case either, however when my car finally figured out how to grip the road, I caught up with him within one second and blew past him. We did not go to the outer limits. I don't know what would have happened if we would have broken 100mph but below that 325 is slower.

I think a CLS will take the 325ci out to lunch and eat it. CLS will win, no chance for the 325ci.

I ave not raced a 235, but I did race a 328 coupe..

He pulled up to me at about 20-25mph. He gave me a look annd we both took off. By about 60, i already had about 1-car lead on him. By 100mph, 1.5 to 2 car lead on him. when i had to switch to 4 gear, he began to catch up......and then he started gaining. We raced up until about 130..

Our cars are fast....just they have F@cked up gear ratios. '

So i would think that you would WHOOP on a 325 coupe.

Why isn't a CLS (260hp) ever compared to a weaker, slower E36 M3 (240hp)

the older M3 (240hp) has less power, but it is able to put the power to the wheels so efficiently. Hence the speed. I don't think we should kid ourselves. We can't compare our speeds with any M models. But did you buy your cars based only on speed??? I didn't.

Good point, but if a CL had a manual then maybe Or maybe an m3 auto vs. cl-s?

I have a co-worker that has a 2001 325 auto, and we raced the other day. We raced from a dead stop, and I handed his ass to him all the way to 70, by then I had a 2 1/2 car lead on him. It's a nice car but just to damn slow.

If the 325 is auto, the CLP will win for sure. It it is stick, the race is close.

This is in regards the a previous post here about CLS against a M3 - auto. Who in their right mind would buy a M3 auto? The car is totally race inspired and no way in hell would a person want an auto (unless they don't have a right arm). A auto CLS vs. an Auto M3 would be a great race!

True eno. Occasionally I take a stroll through the back lot of Park Ave Acura to check out the new cars. Since they also have a BMW dealership across the street lots of BM's are parked there waiting for owners. I'd estimate that 8 of 9 of the 3 series, and all of the 5 and 7 series are automatics. And all of the M's are autos. Nobody seems to buy auto M's....thank god.
