My kids ain't getting shit to drive unless they go halfs with me, AND they have decent grades at least. I'll double what they get if they get straight A's. They'll never learn anything about responsibility otherwise.
fuck that, im doing what my parents did for me. you want it, you pay for it. ill give em a ride to work, but i aint buying them shit. when your a kid growing up, you dont appreciate things half as much as you should/do as when you pay for them in full, out of your own pocket.

I didn't even have my own car in high school. I had to borrow my parents' car on nights and weekends. I got the hand-me-down Chrysler when I lived off campus junior year in college. I'd have taken just about any car back in high school. What a spoiled brat. The ad is hilarious, though.
Bought all of my cars... including my first one. I actually bought my first car about 7 months before I even had my license.
Same will go for my kids. You want it... you get a job and buy it...

what a spoiled little girl and one hell of a weak father.
My first car was a hand me down. My father bought my brother a brand new Buick Regal in 1987, after it was crashed once, he took the car from him and gave it to my sister and from there I got it. Kind of cool that me, my brother and my sister had the same first car. Not to mention I actually got to learn how to work on cars because of that regal, and ended up selling it for double book value with 160K mi.
Which then I used that money to buy my 91' Accord. than a 75' merc 300d, 92'camry, 97' CL. All bought with my cash. It actually works out well, I have a car for about 5 yrs sell it for almost what I paid for and get a slightly better car. Kids need to learn how to do things on their own.
I'd give that girl a nasty Dodge minivan, preferably two tone green/rust.

I've always purchased my own cars, but don't have a problem with purchasing a child a car. As long as it's appreciated. Whether it be a Lexus, Porsche, or older Volvo. If it's not appreciated, or "good enough", then he/she gets nothing.

There's a TV commercial where the parents raise the garage door on a new car for a teenage girl on her birthday who throws a fit because she can't stand the color. Have to find a link for it.
my parents didnt want me to work cause they wanted me to focus on school. i got an a4 for 4k but sold it a few months later. then i found the cl and used money my grandpa left me to get it
My first car was my mom's old 1993 Toyota Previa....the egg we called it. 14 seconds to 60 and a top speed of 85 mph...94 or so if you were going downhill with a strong tail wind. It was the most uncool car EVER but I was still happy to have wheels. This bitch doesn't deserve a car.
Still, the ad made me

I can't stand such spoiled children. How ungrateful. I've had to buy every single car I've ever owned. I would have been honored even if my parents had given me a Yugo, just so I could have my own wheels.
I hope my son doesn't freak if I give him my S2000 when he's 16.
