I'll just leave this here.

SEMA 2012 - AVO Stage 1 Turbocharger Kit for the 2013 Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S 2.0!

AVO's front-mounted Stage 1 turbocharger kit for the Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S is finally here, with a North American shipping date of January 2013! The kit is designed to work with both RHD and LHD models in all countries, and extensive testing has been done on both the Japanese Subaru BRZ and the US Market Scion FR-S. The Japanese BRZ has been track tested from day 1, and the US Market FR-S just spent two days and 1400 miles testing and tuning in varying conditions, from 6000 feet and 0 degree temperatures, to sea level and below in the desert! This was done to ensure our kit will hold up as a daily driver where ever you go, whatever the conditions. All testing in the American market was conducted on 91 and 92 octane pump gas to ensure this is going to handle daily driving as well as the track.

The turbocharger kit is designed from top to bottom specifically to the FR-S and BRZ, and consists of the all the parts necessary to bolt the kit up to the car. We utilize an AVO18/49 turbocharger that mounts up under the front of the engine via our stainless steel unequal exhaust manifold, and then it bolts up to the stock exhaust with our polished stainless steel turbo outlet (also referred to as a downpipe). Cooling the pressurized air is an aluminum bar and plate front mount intercooler which uses black piping throughout, mechanical oil scavenging pump, oil reservoir tank, and all necessary water and oil hoses and fittings. Tuning is by AVO Turboworld via ProECU Ecutek tuning tools, and we will provide an AVO Stage 1 base map free of charge with the Stage 1 kit to customers that already have a EcuTek enhanced ECU.

This turbokit has been designed to bolt up to the stock air intake box and to the stock exhaust system. We have spent a lot of time ensuring it will work with the standard fueling system for a complete bolt on and go setup. The beauty of the system is that it looks very stock from above! The FMIC has been specifically designed to fit with the standard bumper without trimming as well, and on FR-S models would be be difficult to see unless you are looking for it.

So what can you expect from this kit?
From our testing, you will see anywhere from 220 to 250whp on pump gas, dependent entirely upon the quality of the pump gas. This is due entirely to the fact that the stock motor is 12.5:1 compression, incredibly high for a n/a motor. This makes gas quality even more important than ever! If it wasn't for the fact that this FA20 motor is a completely different and modern design with an incredibly well made combustion chamber, we wouldn't even attempt to turbocharge these cars. But while many people associate it with the old EJ20 series motors from Subaru, there is absolutely no comparison besides the fact they are both boxer 4's made by Subaru. The entire design of the engine is different, especially the combustion chamber, which has been improved tremendously from anything previously made by Subaru.

Not only is the engine a major step up, the ECU on this car is also a great design, reacting incredibly fast to knock and adjusting parameters to compensate. This helps increase the reliability of the turbocharged motor. As is well known by now, this is also a direct injection motor, helping both power and gas mileage. We've seen mpg figures as good as stock on the freeway, probably better than stock as we were not exactly sitting on cruise control during our testing!

As you can see from the dyno chart, we saw 230whp (276 crank hp) and 197 ft/lbs of torque at 5-6 psi on 92 octane gas literally from a nearby Chevron gas station. This was with the stock airbox with an AVO high-flow panel filter installed, and a stock secondary cat in place. All these figures were reached on the stock fueling system as well!

Turbo Specifications:
AVO18/49 Turbocharger with 5-7psi actuator - compressor wheel size 49.2/56 | exhaust wheel size 50.5/68
This specially designed AVO18/49 turbocharger comes with a 5-7 psi actuator for precise boost control at lower psi levels, ensuring engine longevity. The turbocharger is rated for 380hp of flow, so there is certainly headroom available with it from the base stage 1 kit, which is doing 276hp on 92 octane.

Mechanical Oil Pump Specifications:
We are unique in utilizing a mechanical oil pump that we locate at the back of the engine, which runs off the back of the RH camshaft. There is also a oil reservoir tank right off the turbocharger itself. This is the most reliable way to pull oil through the turbo to the engine, as it keeps the flow rate tied to the rpm speed of the motor, ensuring that it's properly scavenged at low rpms and idling, and has enough at high rpms.

Front Mount Intercooler Specifications:
Bar & Plate Aluminum Intercooler with cast endtanks. Length = 19" Height = 8" Width = 3"
The intercooler kit utilizes black wire-reinforced silicone piping and two black powdercoated steel piping. The intake piping has ports to mount up a variety of blow-off valves, even OEM ones for a full stealth look.

Pricing:
MSRP on the kit will be $3800.00, and will include the base tuning map.

Optional Parts:
AVO 2.5" stainless steel cat-back exhaust for turbocharged vehicles (MSRP $990.00)
AVO high-flow panel filter for the BRZ and FR-S (MSRP $55.00)
AVO Blow-off Valve Kit (MSRP $220.00)
ProECU Programming Kit

^^^ gains on the kit seem kinda low...you gain only 70HP and 50TQ....

I still feel its a good option to wait it out a little bit on the blower....

My thoughts exactly, Anil. For a turbo it doesn't seem to put out as much as I thought it would. Granted it is a Stage 1 so maybe higher Stages would offer higher power?

Disclaimer: I don't know shit about da toybo, just spitting shit.

^^^ Yup, I would think they would come out with a stage 2/3 etc....

but a turbo will be the most hp/$ usually....like an intake for $300 will gain you like 2-3hp, or an exhaust for $1000 will gain you around 5-7hp....but a turbo kit for around 7000-8000 will gain you (see the JnR Turbo kit) 170-200HP.....

but then again, I see the CR is 12.5:1....any more psi from the turbo can mess up the motor....maybe if they dial it down to say 9.5:1, they can raise the turbo psi and make more power

either way, I dont know shit about the boxer motors so will let the lanky virginia guy shed some light on this

Keep in mind thats on 91 octane with a very safe tune, a stock exhaust and air box, and only running 5psi (I think there was a very slight amount of creep up top). The AVO Japan car is putting down over 250whp with an exhaust on their equivalent of our 93 octane. But dyno variances obviously come into play.

There are other turbos on the market running upwards of 300whp on ~7psi, but the AVO kit is considered an entry level kit. Something like the Full Blown kit is about $1k more (for their base kit) but the parts are on the higher end of the spectrum. The AVO is very basic, it uses very little hard piping, some cast parts, and a journal bearing snail. The ball bearing turbo kits seem to be putting out a bit more power.

There are supercharger kits out there as well, which I honestly prefer the power delivery of, but their price is about the as a turbo kit and the power (especially torque) is quite low. The Vortech kit is expensive and they havent even broken 200wtq. Im still waiting to see what else hits the market as well as how this engine stands up to the pressure long term.

The CR is high, but the engine has been seeing ~9psi on pump and ~20psi on E85 from a few different companies. Theres a handful of 400+hp stock engine'd 86s out there. I have to say though, the one thing Im looking forward to most is raising the redline. I believe its Full Blown that is running up to 8500rpm in their car and Ive heard stuff from one of the tuners that they fully plan on seeing how high they can go (9500rpm isnt completely out of the question). General consensus seems to be that the heads on this motor flow really well out of the box, which is no surprise seeing as the stock intake system outflows most of the aftermarket intakes *cough*Airaid*cough*

Not only was I was CLEARLY being sarcastic, but I even texted him "dat red text, fool!" with no response on either front. I guess the white flag has been lowered until further notice...

So, like you said, if you have something to say that you're not saying that you can say but you haven't then by all means. Baffled at the animosity. I couldn't have blown you any deeper about how much I love your house in your house build thread. I mean, I literally have a shiny chin.

ROFL Jeremy.....I am just a little bit sensitive when it comes to personal things....

What really baffled me is you did appreciate the house a lot on the build thread and when I read this I thought someone hacked your account....also I did not get any text from you....

I don't ignore people, just comments as words are not my best friends and arguments are not made for me....either way i feel life is just tooo short to get hung up on things, if I would have received a text I would have replied back no matter what....

....and wish I would write a post where people quote it and say "damn dude that's cool" or ohh you are so funny but I can't so I like to keep it simple and use the forum for what its made for, and most of all make friends and not enemies....

I do take you as a friend and that's why posts like those hurt me....but as you mentioned you were being sarcastic, guess i do need to understand you better

Usually am pretty quick with replies but was out all day with McCollins celebrating his birfday lol

I think she has a faint clue....but you shall not say anything when you come here for the National meet

Morgan, I agree that the kit is more of an entry level and running a very low psi....I would be eager to see that car stripped down and making upwards of 350whp....

2200-2400lbs and making around 400whp....

Those would be some nice numbers for that car even if it isn't striped down.

This new kit seems to be getting a lot of praise. It is made by DAMD and is a LFA replica kit for the gt86. Comes with new front bumper, side vents, side skirts, new rear bumper with diffuser and lfa style exhaust.

I like the front besides the slit that is used for intake on the lfa since it probably has no purpose on this car. The rear I am not sure about. I would prefer the exhaust in the black space under the lights and just a diffuser at bottom.

I like the LFA designing but prolly not a FRS...I bet a more subtle kit will come out which will add to the already sexy lines of the FRS....

I think we 3G-ers got lucky with the ASPEC kit...no need to look anywhere else

It's not a bad kit. But I have serious reservations about the quality of it given that the front looks like it could get very floppy at the corners if it's not designed correctly.

LFA kit on FRS? No. Absolutely not. Never. Should be illegal.

Burn that POS to the ground.

That's just as bad as making a replica Ferrari.
