Nope, they're wrapped tightly in their blankets and will be on the mall mounted tire rack once I get the motivation to break out the ladder

Just realized the real reason Morgan switched to a Tesla. It's to no longer have an audio power/volume button that doesn't stay in the proper visual position. That's it, isn't it?

Road trip mode. Made it to our destination (180ish miles from home) on about 70% of the battery. Average usage was 295wh/mi at 65-70mph and the AC set to 68°. Not bad for 265s and a roof rack and box.

Also, I'm loving that Inno Wedge. It's pretty quiet at 70. 80 produces a slight whistle though (likely the rack, not the box).

So you can or cannot make it from LA to Vegas with the new tires and roof box without driving like an old person?

She hasn't said a damn thing about the wheels - maybe she's biting her lip on that. But she has zero idea about the suspension. All I told her was I was replacing some bushings, which wasn't a lie that day.

If you stick to 55mph, you should be able to make it.

I mean I guess the wheels are close to the same color and were the same size.

As is known, I mod the hell out of things. My wife never said a word about the Sequoia UNTIL a few weeks ago we were coming out of a restaurant and she started naming mods she could see (thank god I did the grill & headlights BEFORE she saw it) :P

When we got in she rattled off 90% of the visible things inside. Thank god 2 she can't see the springs & shocks!

My point? They know.

They are covered, and I've been moving things around in there. She probably thought they were something that I've had for a while

Here's a feature I bet they don't document.

People keep seeing ghosts on Tesla screens in graveyards

Has Elon figured out how to communicate with the dead?

You have to be dead inside to own a Tesla, so it makes sense.

Here's another Tesla question:
I picked up dinner last night & walked past a Tesla. It had fans running & was pretty noisy, I figured someone was in it with the AC on.
When I left the family had been eating in the restaurant I went to and were leaving at the same time (10 minutes or so later as I had to wait for my food)

Do they run after being turned off? Or more likely they did what I do which is remote start so it cools off?

IIRC, you can set it to hold a temp, even when unoccupied.
Given the expected AZ heat, I'd say that's a nice feature, to keep the internal temp comfortable while it sits in the sun.

Yeah they likely had the AC on keep mode or had cabin overheat protection on. The fans do get loud when the car is parked using either of those modes. I've used keep mode a few times when it's been mid-90s+ here. It doesn't use a ton of battery but it's not something I'd use all the time.

Cool feature, I just remote start when I go inside somewhere I plan to be less than 15 minutes so it stays cool.

Thanks.

Minor mod, but a mod nonetheless. Not having gauges in my line of sight has been an annoyance. A company has recently released an app and bluetooth device that uses your phone for gauges, so I picked one up to play around with. So far so good:

It's currently attached with a magnetic mount, but I've got a wireless charging mount coming soon (it's sitting in customs at the moment).

Quick video of it in action:

The car still does what I bought it for - gets me and the family around comfortably and quickly. I've got about 4500 miles on it.

Since March 19th:
  • I've driven 3,850 miles
  • I've charged 159 times
  • Five of those charges are at Superchargers for a total cost of $102.15
    • Those charges took place on road trips, which were a total of 1,175 miles (9 cents per mile)
  • The other charges took place at home, for a total cost of $143.29
    • That's 2,675 miles, or 5 cents per mile
If we end up going on more roadtrips, I will likely buy the CCS charge adapter so I can use fast charging outside of the Tesla network and pay less.

Wasn't there some other company that just came out with an integral gauge cluster mod for the 3/Y? I thought I saw something about that...let me look.

Edit: Yup, here it is: https://tsportline.com/products/tesl...sh-lcd-display

Probably a lot more expensive than using your phone though...

Yeah it's also more intrusive to the a/c vents. It looks better though. The Teslogic thing was $150. That one is $800

Just checked, life-to-date, the Flex & Malibu both run me $0.13 per mile. Surprisingly, the [heavier, more powerful, V6] Flex is $0.001 cheaper per mile than the [slower, I4] Malibu

That's actually pretty impressive, because you'd think the Flex wouldn't be that efficient. The Golf R was about 16 cents per mile, based on $4/gallon. I admittedly didn't track gas prices/consumption throughout the entire ownership. But I knew a turbo 4cyl wasn't going to be the best

Yeah definitely more expensive but it's integrated and you don't need to repurpose your phone. If you find that the phone cluster is really great, might be a good thing to add to your car eventually.

In regards to cost per mile, my guess is that's it's similar to yours. I don't have one of the aggregator apps to pull it all together and figure out price so it's just a guesstimate.

It's more a damning of the Malibu, as it's shockingly poor for a small 4cyl car.
I track both on fuelly, including service (oil changes, brakes, tires, etc).

The 2 weeks with the Denali, $0.264/mi. Not terrible for a 6.2l V8 & the 12MPG average while in P'cola.

Burban gets about 17 to 21 depending on speed limit of the road trip.
Not bad at all.
Money on gas is fine. I'm actually surprised at how much it costs for an EV.
Not because it's a lot but because when I first started picturing them and what they are I factored in a cost of ZERO for fuel/KWH.
