Patience is a virtue that I do not possess. I put the wheels on today. I couldn't stand looking at them in the garage

After I got them on, I found out that the center caps on the other wheels are too small for these - which is annoying. @Predatorbird - do you happen to know the part number for the center caps? The part number that ShopDAP says fits these wheels matches what came on my Englishtowns, but they're about an inch smaller

Oh, here's a bit of the scratches that the tech "added" to these wheels (this is the worst one):

I hope the dealer is keeping him employed long enough for him to pay off his fuck-up, cuz it's pretty terrible I'll probably run the tires down on these, then get them powdercoated.

I'm not sure what the part number is off hand, I'd have to take off one of the wheels. I can't believe how much better they look! Time to lower it and throw on some spacers.

The inside is going to get coated with brake dust and you won't even see those scratches. I'd still probably hit them with touch up paint.

I'm going to try to find a touch up paint that's close enough and fill the scratches.

Also, I have spacers 10mm front and 17.5mm rear. It also looks higher because the suspension hasn't settled since I had the car jacked up.

What are you lowered on? I didn't see springs listed on your mod list. I initially installed 15/20 spacers and had an "oh shit" moment when I lowered the car down. It was super aggressive.

I'm not lowered - but that factory R springs are a bit lower compared to the GTI. Here's a better representation after driving it around to settle the suspension again:

It's still obviously not where I want it but I'll take care of that eventually.

Well, looks like the Pretorias are off the table for me this year. I need to pay a bunch of money to add additional electric service in my garage to run tools.

Don't want to swing both right now, it's not worth the argument with my finance manager.

I'll just live vicariously through you guys or unless I find an epic deal...

You don't want black Pretorias anyway. Wait for a deal on a silver set to come available.

Why? I like black wheels...

Depends on how good the wheels on the next MY are. The fact that they brought back the design for MY19 is going to lower the prices dramatically by increasing supply.

I do too - not sure how I feel about black Prets though. I need to see them in person before I powdercoat these black.

You're assuming people will be opting for them - the Englishtowns are still standard.

A year ago I saw wheels/tires going for $1200-$1500. Today I’m seeing people asking $1800-$2000. I hope people aren’t paying those prices

I don’t think black wheels will look good with the Blue. The silver adds a nice contrast and looks classier IMO.

For your car:

For my car, I think these are 18's though:

Admittedly it looks better on the white but I still like it on the black. Can always get them powder coated/painted as well.

Or we could just trade lol.

I don't think the black ones look bad on blue if everything else is blacked out like that one.

That's the stock look for the pirate golf. The US market ones also have black mirror caps.

Black's not bad, but they definitely don't showcase the wheel. It's like you can essentially run any spoke blacked out and it'll have the same effect.

Albeit, I'm biased as both my rides right now have alternate black wheels for the winter.

Gunmetal may be the winner. I think the silver is too bright for the car, but the details would get lost if they were black.

Either way, I've got a couple thousand miles left on the tires that were on these wheels, so I figure I can decide at the end of summer.

I say touch them up and all it a day.
Nothing beats oem finish on a wheel.

I'm over here literally beating meat to that gif.

I suspect black wheels would look better in person where you'd have an easier time distinguishing details than in the photos.

Also, it's ridiculous how clean your car is.

If the calipers are a nice contrasting color, the black rims will be very sharp against a white car.

That would be sweet, but I suspect that would be pricey.

If I were to get a big brake kit, I'd probably go with silver or yellow. Blue would be nice too, similar to what I had on my CL:

I miss that car
