Not loosely based, it's an SLK drivetrain, chassis, and interior with a Karmann made, Chrysler-designed body.
Reliability and quality issues are about the same as the SLK, as a result.

The base version with the 6mt is nice. The power is lacking, but the interior & exterior are killer. There are a few minor upgrades you can do for the power.
The SRT6 version has the power, but the ride is very harsh. And it's auto only.

That car with the miles wholesale is 15,400, so that guy would make a killing selling it for 19,995.

Meh...I used to like...then I saw a lot of them and they grew ugly.
I was working on a TV movie that Chrysler had a deal with...so all the cars were jeep, dodge, etc.
One of the characters drove a SRT6 vert....much nicer version...but still, no manual.

The SLK seems like it hasnt had any major issues

I definitely like the SRT6 version, but it's a shame that these cars didn't sell. I like the design a lot, even though it's pretty much an SLK. I do like how the spoiler comes out going over 65 though, cool extra.
I like the way they look......usually turns my head on the highway.
I would never buy one unless it was new. Chrysler reliability makes me shudder......esp if it's up around 50k miles.
If you're looking for a roadster around $20k..........s2k all the way. No question.
