The washi aluminum trim in my G37 is very obviously real and not plastic upon close inspection. The aluminum trim on the door handles and shift knob are a bit less genuine but not plastic I don't think.....

Talking LGT for the win.....

Those that vote LGT have their head together. Mine arrives in two to three weeks.

Go to legacygt.com

You'll see that the 2.5L block is easily upgradeable, and the support community is pretty good.

Speaking of dogshit, you'll also be hauling two doggers around; so you need upholstery that isn't too difficult to clean or expensive to replace when they shed tons of hair, track mud, and barf on it (my yellow american field lab excells at all three).

I agree with the 330i ZHP as a good second, the best of the E46's. Be wary of this particular fault with those cars though.....

Thanks Mirror. That subframe reinforcement work doesn't look like it would be cheap

I need to go drive a Spec B. Road and Track loved it back in 2006 (finished 2nd to the A4 out of six cars).

I'm so up in the air right now. I want something that I would enjoy driving but is also nice inside. The pictures of the Legacy interior look good but they aren't at the Audi level. A4 3.2 S-Lines are almost impossible to find (and harder still in 6MT).

I want a manual transmission but then I see the A6 S-Line interior and I just drool.

This is tough

What, you mean the $15k+ MSRP?

That's the beauty of used cars. I wish I had paid more attention in 2007 when I bought my Mazdaspeed3.

Just got approved at 4.5% through Pentagon Federal.

Just gotta find a motherfluckin' car now!

Going to look at an 2006 A4 3.2 S-Line 6MT Quattro on Thursday and then try to get into a Subie and another 2005 S4 this weekend.

G35 is out. Decided I didn't want to go over $29k.

Search posts by me...I was in the same boat as you and made lots of threads trying to find the right car. Finally chose an 08' A4 2.0T Quattro SE lease. Love the car. It was a great choice. I pretty much singled it down to the A4 / S60r / and G35C, but chose the A4.

Seriously though, check out my threads...lots of people gave me a lot of helpful information.

this was a S60R I almost bought a while back... the thing was clean... and FAST!!! Some people don't care for the orange-like interior, but I liked it... He was asking $28k with around 30k miles

A friend of mine had an S60R for a short amount of time. That thing was a rocket, I couldn't believe the kind of speed that came out of that car. And the sound system in it was mindblowing... that was an AWESOME car!

I had a friend with a S60R too. His was auto but it was faster than my Mazdaspeed3 ... WAY faster ... I couldn't believe it.

I might go drive one if I can find a good one. My friend would probably kick my ass though. He had a automatic 2005 with 22k miles he sold to Carmax about 2-3 months ago. LOL.

Hahaha, so much coincidence lately.

Was thinking about buying an S4 and then suprisingly Top Gear Season 2 reviewed the '04 and loved it.

Then someone mentioned the S60R today and I was just watching Top Gear Season 2 and blammo, S60R is tested.

They liked it but then Clarkson said, "It's very, very good. So what I'd do is buy an Audi S4."

No ZHP

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Subie is offering 0% on all 08's to clear inventory - that may sway your choice back to the Spec B.

Exactly, but if he buys the slightly used - add up the interest in total cost of ownership, it may be a better decision to take the free money.

Really won't matter if the car's crap. But it's only 0% for 24 months. 3.9% for 48 months and a new Subie is going to be more than I'm willing to spend, even at invoice.

Take it for a drive first -- don't hear too many people saying the spec-b is crapola.

It doesn't have the quad ring badge, but I kinda like the q-ship quality of the subie, kinda like the speed3.

I just realized it sounded like I meant the Subaru was crap. Sorry for that. I don't. I like Subaru.

I just meant low rates and saving money won't really matter in the long run if I don't like the car.

I'm pretty sure I'll never buy an Audi. They just don't do it for me and the reliability is a huge issue....

I've been doing a lot of reading lately and yes, there are things that go wrong. There are things that go wrong that cost a LOT of money.

But in the three weeks and about 100 pages I've read in the B6 S4 forum at Audizine, I never saw an endemic problem talked about like I saw with the Acura transmissions.

I never saw anything about subframes coming apart at the seams like on some E46s.

I did see that if the timing chain tensioner fails and you have no warranty you're in deep shit.

But everything else seemed like it was just shit that always goes wrong on cars. Now, maybe Audis have window regulators that go bad more than anyone else. I dunno ...

But in this country, I don't think Audi has yet recovered from the idiotic unintended acceleration hysteria in the 80s. I think people are far less patient with them.

And while Audi hasn't sold a ton of S4s, the owners are fiercely loyal and quite often come back to an S4 after they traded it in for something else that caught their attention for a time.

The Audi isn't going to be a Nissan that just needs tires, brakes, and oil changes for 200k miles. I realize this.

But there's something about the way a German car is engineered that I find compelling.

We all have our preferences. You've come to love Infiniti and the engineering choices they made. I prefer Audi and would have owned a VW before this if the service departments didn't act like the Bulgarian Secret Police.

As screwed up as this country is some times, thank god for America.

I'd never have the ability to own an Audi S4 in Britain. It would just be so expensive to run one that I'd have to wait until they had 200,000 miles and were 4000 quid before I could afford the taxes and insurance.

^ Get use to defending yourself for buying an Audi like that.

Personally i was on those Audi forums for 3 years and nothing major really happened. Just as long as you do the preventive maintenance you good!

I will admit that most of the horror stories are from owners who do no maintenance at all. Its not like a honda where you can just do oil changes and thats it. But shit part of the fun for me was working on the A4 doing that stuff. (wasnt expensive)

Well "Mr G37" is a bit, enthusiastic, about his car but I don't mind it.

Three years ago I would have never considered an Audi as much as I love them.

They still scare me and I've been so tempted to puss out but the whole point of getting rid of the MS3 is to finally buy exactly what I want.

Every time I thought of getting something other than an S4 I just felt like I ought to keep my Mazda.

Before the R8 and the S5, none of their cars ever got me stoked. I've actually entertained the idea of getting an R8, but the dealer premiums on them are still pretty stupid and I refuse to play that game. Peeps on ebay asking $180 gizzle, what a joke.

Yeah I see used ones going for $140-150k ...

I love the S5 too but at $60k it's gonna be a few years before it would get into my price range.

As much as I love the Audi styling the S5 is way too expensive. Its almost insane to get one over a 335i or an M3.... and you thought MB depreciation sucked ass?

I didn't say I was gonna go buy one

This is why I'm buying used. I'm "saving" $27k by looking at used ones with about 25-30k miles on it.

I seriously never gave two shits about Audi until they brung it with the 5 coupe. I'd love to have one of those at some point. Used though...buying a new-new would be bad medicine.

Its kind of like an in-between of a regular 330ci and an M3

Suspension, short shifter, bump in power, and some other stuff I don't remember. I think its only available on the sedans...? I remember reading that it was because there was no E46 M3 sedan, so the ZHP was the antidote.

I think BMW offered the ZHP stuff on the E46 coupe but I'm not 100% sure if it was under the ZHP code.

But you're right about the sedan part. They had +10hp and much better driving dynamics for those who wanted more M3-like handling.

They did offer the ZHP in the coupe but most that were sold was the sedan.
