I guess soon, they won't have a single car in their line up that will work.

Are you a service tech at a BMW dealership?
I work directly with local dealerships and techs, and am privy to info regarding the vehicles.

They sell tons of these motors, not all have issues but there's also no denying there is a high rate of failures. Pity really since it a great engine.

Too bad you can't really dump it since you put so much down. Ouch.

I'll take a challenger...but I want SRT and will have to wait for someone to trade in in a few years.

All cars have their things, I agree with that...but some more than others and also, a cracked cupholder or a stuck CD most will find they can handle. The types of issues that leave you in danger or stranded are the ones I'm mostly worried about...

Anyone read the mustang transmission thread? I mean, even if it's slander and it's on a small scale. I'm afraid to risk being part of the lucky few to experience any of these problems.

Me too. That's why it is really disheartening to hear about the continuing issues with BMW. Running out of viable choices. Really want a rwd coupe...Camaro = poor outward visability. Challenger = too huge. Stang = hit or miss tranny.

I have an SRT-8 coming in for an Edelbrock, I'll have an SRT-8 intake manifold, and possibly a hotchkis stage 1 suspension w/ sways, as he's going to a coil-over.

J, this is my plan.
pay off the TL and keep it as a DD for at least 10 years.
then pick up a used 392 in a couple of years with little mileage and after it takes the depreciation hit.

Not a smart move by OP since BMW's MF are so low and their residual values are inflated. He totals his 135 he eats $15K.

I bought a 2011 528 for GF, 3 months old and no problems whatsoever.

Why the hell would you put down $15k? I believe OP is a troll.

^just because he put 15k down on a lease, he's a troll?

While it's not a smart move, it was his decision.

OP, I recommend you to look into Lemon Law in your state, although if they Lemon the car, you may loose that 15k that you put down. If I'm not mistaken, they also give you an option to get into another BMW around the same value.

Is the MSRP of a 135 $60,000 plus in and does anyone know where BMW caps you on the down payment?
Here you go (base prices,...so add in pkgs to up the price).

Trim Transmission MSRP* Destination**
128i Coupe Manual 6 Speed $35,800 $1,995
135i Coupe Manual 6 Speed $43,000 $1,995
128i Cabriolet Manual 6 Speed $41,200 $1,995
135i Cabriolet Manual 6 Speed $48,500 $1,995

I loaded up a 135 coupe with everything (I think) on the Canadian website, and got it up to 55k.

My friend's dad paid $63k for an '09 135 Cab. That was way back when they were first released, so dealers were probably marking them up pretty well.

Well, with the difference between the coupe and the cab at 7k,....fully loaded, that's obtainable based on the pricing post I put up above.

Ah sorry, I thought $55k was the most expensive 135 you could get, convertible included.

He might have paid full price at the time, but dealers here cannot charge more than MSRP.

@ ridiculous price tag on these 135i.. wow

I've driven the car, I like it alot, but I don't think I'll ever pay more than $40k for a 135i.

Sorry to hear about the issues, but I would definitely try the lemon law route.

$40K would be a reasonable price for a nicely equiped a 135i. The problem is, you must expect pricing on BMWs to be reasonable.
