Personally, I think cell phones are a problem now and the solution will come next year. I just hope they actually enforce it.

Can we still text and drive?

For me, I'm more distracted when I have passangers yapping at me while I'm driving. SHHH!!! Let me drive!!! I swear my passangers think I'm a horrible driver, but when I'm by myself, my sense of awairness is at its highest and I rarely make mistakes. With passangers I tend to almost run people over, ignore traffic signals, etc.

people are going to have a cow when they get a ticket for this. also one of the backers of this law is the bluetooth manufacturers to generate revenue for there companies

That's even worse than talking on a cell phone.

I know this has been beat to death in other threads and I agree with not talking on the phone while driving. But, when are law makers going to make it illegal to drive and eat, read, apply makeup, fiddle with your GPS, reach back and slap the kids and crap like that?

No doubt.

Just last night, some dipshit was trying to dial a number into his cellphone and not paying attention to the road. His lane was a right-turn only and he wanted to go straight. He just came over into my lane without even looking as he was too damn distracted trying to dial a number....

I gave him the only number he would understand as I drove by him...

I can't agree more. Whenever I see a car/SUV drift into my lane, it's usually a cellphone at fault.

personally, I have no problems driving and talking on the phone (w/o a headset), to me it's no different than if I was talking to someone sitting in the car... I usually drive with just one hand anyway... so holding a phone with the other hand... makes no difference to me...

but with that said... I'm in favor of this law cuz of all the other idiots that can't drive and talk (on the cell.).
