Car guy.

Now that's a cool story. Twenty years after not seeing one another, and then spending an entire visit talking cars. Definitely two car guys. Citroen SM? I love those things. French technology and quirkiness with the soul of an exotic Italian. I once dated a woman of the same background.
A high-school friend's family were into Volvo P1800's, at one time the dad and three brother's had four in various stages of running and repair/restoration.

Heck I even like the look of the cast aluminum rear sub-frame on a Aztek, if you're ever behind ignore the tacky body but take a good look at that rear sub-frame that supports the rear differential and suspension. You can see it if you're behind one at a traffic light.

I must be a car guy. I love talking about cars and can usually tell the make and model of a car by it's headlights / taillights while driving around. I have a wish list of cars I want to own / drive. When anyone in the office has trouble with their car they come and ask me (I've literally pulled a door panel to unstick a lock mechanism in 105F heat, replaced plugs and changed pads in the parking lot). I love to talk about tires, oil, filters, everything cars.. Especially episodes of Top Gear. I also love a classic body, whether it's 80 years old to 10 years old.. some body styles are timeless.
I think just a general life long fascination and love for cars that makes you a car guy / gal, not what kind of car you own.. I've met professional engineers in their mid 40's who couldn't tell you how to open their hood and 20 somethings who drive around 335's and M3's who couldn't tell you what's under the hood.. not car people.

I AM A CAR GUY.
I remember the day I fell in love with cars. I was 7. It was my uncles 69 cougar landau. It was blue and it was beautiful. Come to think of it, I fell in love with that car the same summer I had my first kiss (yes, from a girl).
Shortly after that my father bought a 63 impala. A Green 2 door with a split bench and a 2 spd powerglide. I didn't learn that it was a power glide, I actually just remembered that as I was typing.
If you ask my wife, she'll tell you my memory is horrendous but this topic is bringing back memories that I haven't even thought of...maybe ever.
I learned to drive at the age of 12 with a 73 gmc pick up at my dads store. It was a three speed on the column and I can actually remember the smell of the interior. I bought my first car...with my own money at 17 and you can read about my other 37 cars on the link in my sig below.
I love all kinds of cars; to me they are art. They have to be clean and polished to really look good. Even a new Porsche can loose my interest if it's dirty.
I can tell what car is coming down the road 80% of the time by the headlights...in the dark.
I can recite most drivetrains by year make or model
I can probably also give you hp and 0-60.
If I could, I would buy a car every time I saw something new that turned my head.
If I hit the lottery, I would buy a new car; drive it for a few months and then put it up for sale in my own custom car lot.
Sorry for being so choppy here...chalk it up to my ADD.

BTW, It needs to be repainted again. I'm going with a different color this time though. Something in a graphite color. I was thinking the MB "Steel Gray" color, or the Land Rover "Stornaway Gray".

The Torque Thrust II on the front is a beater rim, it's a 16" wheel from what's left of a set. I have a set of Polished 17" TT II's sitting in the box. The engine in the car is a 302 out of a '70 Ford. Years ago I did a little bit of work to it: Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold, Cam from Crane, Holly 600cfm carb, Hedman shorty headers, Flowmaster Delta Flow Exhaust, new water pump, oil pump, replaced the 3 speed manual with a 4 speed toploader, added power steering, Maier Racing suspension all around and a bunch of other stuff. It was all done so long ago, most of it is antiquated. My friend has a 351W motor put aside from me that is nicely modified, but also fuel injected. We're going to swap the motor, swap the trans (for a T5) and I'm going to go a little more modern with the suspension and brakes (Discs all around). There's so much I want to do, I just hope I don't push it too much over my budget...
