Car Exploded on RTE 80 west in Jersey

Amazing, driving home from work, no fire fighters had arrived to the scene yet, drove by and pulled out my phone to take a pic, right in time for the boooom, some movie type sh!t, all I know is that I have never heard VTEC kick so hard and the AEM roar so loud, I was out, LOL

what the hell happened. I saw on the news that 80 was all backed up, but they said a minor car accident but that don't look too minor to me....

I was on 78 East way out by Oldwick, and a hay truck was on fire. The stupid state troopers didn't realize that the hay becomes very combustible when its on fire, and has the tendancy to blow up. They weren't diverting traffic even to the next lane over from the shoulder. I drove past the truck as far left as i could get, and about 2 seconds after i drove by it, truck blew up, completely englufing a car behind me and melted a stupid state troopers car that parked too close. Thank god no one else was hurt because they were retards

Hay is not explosive and will not "blow up"

We worked about 3-4 car fires a year over the 8 years I was there. A very small rural Indiana community.

Car fires are pretty common

Neither is grain but it does cause huge explosions in this case via dust. I can blow your house up with a 50 pound bag of flour two small initiation charges with two blasting caps one of them being a delay cap. (Technically it is an implosion but your has will be flat none the less)

Hay particularly if put up with a high moisture content when stored can do all sorts of strange things including self ignition. Normally you don't get an explosive mix unless it is enclosed BUT it would be possible to have decent sized pockets in a large tight packed open trailer.

I saw a yellow Ferrari 360 blow up like that last year on 495 (or 678?) in Queens.... Its front was pointed in the reverse direction of traffic and its bumper was hanging on the divider.... that thing was flaming and smoking like a mofo.... what I didnt' understand was, it was burning in the front of the car, but the engine is in the back?? maybe the gas tank is in the front?? or probably there was a lot of drugs in the front "trunk"

The same thing happened...as my friend was pulling out his cell phone to video the thing, the car just started to explode

Exactly thank you! All it takes is a source of ignition and it will blow if the fire gets hot enough. How do you think so many barns and silos burn? From working at a barn for so long, you never ever are supposed to stack hay and we refuse shipment on hay that isn't bailed properly or has a funny color.

working on a farm and being a firefighter for so long I can tell you hay can spontanously combust if it is put in the barn too "wet." that's often why farmers leave it in the field to "dry down. " hay fires suck. hay has what firefighters call "fast burn." meaning it burns fast and hard. so you get there and that sucker going hard. I've been to many hay barn fires. usually depending on how fast they find it we might be able to save some of the barn.

We always stored the hay in another stone barn with a slate roof. It was never ever anywhere near the horses, some of which were worth a couple of million. There was just a barn that burned down in Ringoes-i know the barn, and it was a dump-im not surprised at all, all it takes is one bad wire.

This is soooo obviously some good NJ material, so I won't harp on it.

Besides, when I went to Illinois last month, it was the first and only time I didn't witness something weird in the Gary/NW Indiana corridor. Something ALWAYS happens in 'The Armpit.'
