Car and Driver Race Series
Car and Driver sent me an email about a week ago. Check it out to see if they're coming to your area. It's a good opportunity to see how your car and your skills stock up against the competition. Below is the text straight out of the email. Enjoy!

You race your own car. They classify you in categories according to modifications you've made and class of the car. I think you add 15 points for every mod, or something to that effect. My only concern would be the insurance issue. I mean if you flip your car, would your insurance cover the damage? It should be pretty cool, here in Miami the event is at the Homestead Motor Speedway. Can you imagine banking at 140+ mph! :o)

The event include skidpad, drag race, and autocross. I doubt you would be going that fast.
And yes, since this is a timed event, most insurance won't cover any damage I believe. You are on your own...

might have to run my 89 CRX si (that i run SCCA Solo2) in this at Detroit or Cleveland. I didn't look at rules. I hope they accept coilovers, roll cages, DOT approved high performance tires(their Falken high performance street legals), weight reduction things(like i took out carpet, most of the interior and back seat, spare, etc)
FYI: the little thing dynoed at 130 hp and ran high 14's when i dragged it once(i was practicing for Pro Solo) timing light "christmas tree".
I ran against a last generation TL(not the 04 or 05) automatic he was bone stock. He had all he wanted with me. we ran dead even.
