Car door problem on buddy's car
Car door problem on buddy's car
Heya guys,
I wasn't sure where to put this and I hope I'm in the right area. A friend of mine just got a 2001 Honda Prelude and he's already managed to break the door. What happened was that at the exact moment the car was locking itself, he pulled the driver's side door handle to try and open the door. Now, he can no longer open the driver's side door from the outside of the car but it opens fine from the inside of the car. Is there a quick fix to this, or should he take it to the dealership? I was hoping someone with a similar experience could chime in and let me know what he should do.
Thanks so much!
Regards,
Ish

Honda has some problems with the locks on accords and ludes from 94-01. The locks actually break and lock them self closed. It happened on my 97 CL it was a pain in the ass. You have to take the door skin off the inside while the door is closed and break the lock off. I used an air chissel. It sucked. My dad has a body shop and he said it happens all the time to accords and preludes.
Thanks for the reply,
Were you also not able to open the door from the outside, but it opened from the inside? Only reason I ask is because if the lock was actually broken, would the door open from the inside? I messed around with his car today and when you pull the driver's side door handle, it doesn't seem to "catch" anything like the passenger's side door handle does.
