All the people???? I think there was only one post that said RWD was useless.

But most everyone else agreed that FWD is better given equal factors such as tires. And any RWD car with snow tires will be better than any FWD car with all seasons, but that's a different set of circumstances.

Even so...having more weight over the drive wheels (FWD) is helpful for traction, especially if neither car has snow tires. OP made the right choice.
Heck yeah dude! Cleveland winters ftw (not really but ya) thankfully this winter was when I learned manual and barely any snow fell.

I would say the Altima, but if you are that uncomfortable about driving in snow then go rent an SUV and call it a day.

Yeah, but make sure it's at least AWD or has high-range 4x4...there are tons of SUV's out there that are RWD (4x4 or AWD optional).

My Pathfinder in 2wd mode is pretty bad when there's snow on the roads and all season tires...my m45 with snow tires was better.

TL with chains was pretty good. My friends subaru with snow tires was 100x better to drive though.

Knowing how to drive in the snow is more important than FWD, RWD, or AWD.

The best combo is a good AWD system, dedicated snow tires, and a good driver. You can make do without the first two though.

Got back from Mammoth yesterday! The Altima had no problems in the snow and Caltrans did a really good job keeping the streets drivable. I had some spinning on a uphill right b4 our cabin but other than that all was good.
Thx for your advice!!!
