shipping the car across the state
shipping the car across the state
I know it is not related to acurazine topic but I own TL so I post here. I got a job in TX and awarded with large sum of relocation money.
Now I either have to drive from NY there but I am looking at possibility of shipping my car there. I have never shipped the car across the state, so asking anyone who has done in the past, please share your experience and what company you recommend.
I am wondering how much the overall cost of shipping (1700miles from NY -TX)
and what company offers reasonable cost at reliable service.
Also if I ship, I'll need to put bunch of my belongings in the car, and whether it is allowable thing to do.
Thanks!

I've shipped cars all over the U.S and the best company I've found is DAS. They are reasonable with their pricing, and you can track your cars movement in real time on their site. Something most other shippers can't do. You can get an instant quote online. It's cheaper to drop it off and pick it up and the closest terminals. Most shippers will not allow you to store personal belongings in the vehicle. Check them out. www.dasautoshippers.com/
Is your relocation $ lump sum or will they pay mileage if you drive?
I don't think they allow you to load the car with stuff for the ship due to additional weight and liablility (but I'm not positive).

^ Depends on the shipper. When I sold my TLS the buyer was in California and I put the Acura OEM bodykit, stock exhaust, and a few other things in the car when I dropped it off for shipping.
just drive it yourself. You gonna spend 2bills on gas tops. The shipping will cost you more than a grand for sure. I bought my car 1000 miles away and went there to pick it up my self. Saved couple of hundred bucks but it was worth it. Maybe cuz i love traveling. But if you hate driving, and cant imagine driving for 2 days, then i guess ship it. BTW, i spend 100 bucks on gas, plus some money for food for me and my buddies that came with me.
^ Shouldn't be "more then a grand for sure". I shipped a car from NC to CA and it was ~$700.
Also, it's a relocation for a job that A) he's not paying for it, so may as well ship the car and B) He does not necessarily have the time for a road trip.
Time is money, and it's not his money, so definitely ship. I'd ship any day over driving ~1700 miles... especially if someone else is paying
