I would pick the M5 if that were going to be my performance car, and the S6 if I had a real sports coupe in the garage so that it would be my high powered stealth daily driver

The E63 looks like a Taxi? That's one hell of a Taxi.

If any car looks like a Taxi, its the S6 which basically looks just like an A6.

The optional designo Burl Walnut trim ($290) wakes up the E63 interior, the Black wood sucks. Personally, I don't think either of the 3 interiors are amazing.....just nice overall.

I've driven the E63, 30 minute test drive.....its awesome. Also, black is not the color for the E63.

Maybe when the manual comes out, the current SMG system is annoying.

ditto the iDrive. We have a 02 330xi and it has a nice interior. They messed it all up w/ that 2nd binnacle containing the display and worse, that iDrive would drive me absolutely around the bend.

i have no problem with Idrive and actually like it. You just have to get use to it.

But i agree, SMG is way too jerky of a transmission for daily use.

Exactly, not to mention the various settings.......on top of Idrive.

I can deal with Idrive (although its slow and not the most intuitive), but SMG III and Idrive.

No thanks.

M5 is has a wailing V10 that redlines at 8250rpm, a 7 speed tranny, more tech than you could ever want, and incidently seats four and their luggage. What more could you want.

The question is....M5 or M6

have both M5 and E55 currently in the garage.

To be honest neither one is perfect.

For daily use, I will probably take E55 over both E63 and M5. Since you can still have little fun in E55 without getting into trouble.

E63 on the other hand is one confused car. AMG took away E55's advantage over M5, the low end torque. W211 does not handle well and it quiet nose heavy. That didn't change with E63.

Daily use E55->M5->E63.

However, if you can only take one car out of E55/M5/E63/S6. I will take M5 hands down over the other 3 cars.

I agree. The e63 engine is a little uninspiring. I'd take the e55.

What in the hell are you talking about?

"Since you can still have a little fun in the E55 without getting into trouble."

What the f* does that mean?

The E63 is not a confused car, basically AMG went after the M5. At this point, the E63 handles very close to the M5. The E63 handles much better (N/A engine is 47 lbs lighter), brakes better, and has better steering than the E55. Overall, its a more athletic driving experience than the E55. Not to mention its a much smoother driving car, no more jerky tranny. Don't even compare the driving dynamics of the E63 vs. the E55....there is no comparison.

If you like racing from stoplight to stoplight, get an E55. Because that's really only what it's good for in the performance department, straightline speed like an old muscle car.

Yes, the E63 really isn't any faster than the E55......just delivers the power differently. As stated by AMG engineers "It will come down to the driver."

To each their own, I personally like the "whole" performance package.

If I wanted a drag car, it wouldn't be a Benz.

Also, if you want more sport than luxury.....get an M5.

????

1.
That's because you can at least feel the torque of the 55k engine around the town. You can't do that with either E63 nor M5. Since at low end both engine are quiet weak.

M5 and E63 gets fun when your RPM is north of 5,000 RPM. For M5 you are looking north of 6000 RPM.

There is no way you can experience the power of E63 or M5 on daily basis without getting a ticket.

2. I have driven the E63 already. It's smoother than E55, true. But it still handles quiet lousy. You feel the weight of E63 just like you do on the E55. Look it at this way. E55's handling is worth about a penny. E63 although significantly better than E55, its about 2 penny. Neither are worthy of mentioning when compare to the M5.

To state that E63 has great vehicle dynamic is absurd.
