Okay, here's the problem with your post. The 2007 base coupe lists for $47,200 (all prices Canadian). The 5AT Coupe Sport lists for $50,600 (BUT INCLUDES THE $1,200 PERFORMANCE PACKAGE AS STANDARD). The base coupe plus performance package (which may be equivalent to the G37 Sport) lists for $48,400. So, if the G37 Sport really is equivalent to the base coupe plus performance package, then the price has risen by $1,550, or 3.2%.

Bumping up the U.S. base 2007 coupe's $34,450 list by 3.2% gets the base G37 list to $35,550; or, approximately where everyone has been guessing it will be.

Now, if this is all correct, then if the 3.2% increase includes the now standard XM, add $3,300 to the price of a 2007 sedan configured the way you want, to arrive at your G37 price. If the 3.2% increase does not include the now standard XM, add $3,600 to the price of a 2007 sedan configured the way you want, to arrive at your G37 price.

P.S. I understand from a very unreliable source, that the $3,300 increase does include XM, but the destination and handling go up $35 to $750 for 2008. This might be right, but I really have no real support for this.

Babyblue ... if the Canadian prices are that steep in comparison to the US prices, why not buy the damn thing in the US and import it home, pocket the savings or invest those savings into mods? That's what I did with my wife's TSX (ie bought it in the US but pocketed the savings -- I'm not allowed to mod her car ... )

I agree, I heard that even if you add in all the extra cost such as taxes and other crap, you will still end up with a much better deal if you buy the car from the States.

I am fed up with $CAD prices. After exchange rate, 335i is 10000$CAD more expensive in Canada

Couple factors -- taxes and exchange rate.

1) Taxes -- nothing we can do about. Welcome to socialized medicine.

2) Exchange rate -- Canada is like < 2% of world car consumption. Most car companies report their earnings in US$ (well, at least those traded on the NYSE). So ... car companies price their items in US$ and then "convert" to CAD$ for a rough estimate of pricing. Of course, complying to Canadian laws (metric speedo, having French portion for owner's manual, etc) adds to the cost of selling in Canada, and of course -- the price gets passed to the consumer.

I live < 10 minutes from the US border so buying from a willing US dealership isn't a big a problem as ... say ... people from Toronto or bigger cities like Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, etc.

Derrick,

so no warranty haggle or anything.. you have a list of what needs to be done, to satisfy what the government. Any links, or if you can point me in the right direction that would help. Only debate is, if I lease it, its a tax write off, so let's see.

but then prices don't include taxes, and the exchange rate is like 90 cents to a dollar, or about 10% difference. So a US$28k TSX should cost like $31kCAD. But that's not the case, it's $37k CAD here. $6k for just manuals, speedometer conversion, and other minor stuff? I'm sure there are other factors too!
