Bye CL, Hello Lexus!!!

Hello all,

So last night, I took the delivery of my 'realistic' dream car, Lexus 04 SC430 Black/Black with 38.5k miles!!! The car is in prestine condition and I still can't believe I own one. This is my first Lexus, V8 and convertible and I'm hoping I made a right choice. Not a typical convertible you would see someone in my age driving but it's equipped with everything I would ask for as my 'weekend' car. I'm not a speed-junkie or sporty-junkie. I always wanted something, luxurious, cruiser and reliable as I plan to keep this until my first kid is born!!! Anyways, here is a pic of me and my car for the first time! (hope the link works)

Traded in my 03 CL-S w/ 76k miles. Don't ask what I got for it... It was difficult letting that car go but I think it was enough experience with Acura for me. Problem free yet I'm ready to move on!! Is there any other SC430 owner on this forum? Would love to hear some feedbacks if any. Thanks!

Can't see the pic at work, but those are awesome cars! You will hear mixed things about them here, But i personally think they are fantastic. Just need to change the stock wheels
Congrats!

Yes, I know what you mean... People on this forum that are more into "speed-sporty-handling' don't usually have great opinions about SC especially for its money but then again people have different needs. My needs don't include them. They are entitled to their opinions and I can respect that! Hardtop convertible/realiability/luxurious are some of main reasons why I pursued this vehicle.

As far as the stock wheels, I'd assum you're talking about those 'ugly' Disc-looking wheels. Well, fortunately, the previous owner paid extra for their 'premium' wheels. I'm very happy with these. Also the dealer put a brand new set of run-flat tires so I can't be any happier!!

Nice car tho', and the 04's are getting attractive pricewise... I happened to do an autotrader search last week after I parked next to a SC last week @ lunch... Very nice car... too bad they don't come in an MT version...

Well not sure if it's TERRIBLY bad... but according to KBB.com it was 10,250-10,500 for good condition.

They offered $9500 and not a penny more. I believe it's going straight to the auction. (which I need to get my aftermarket stereo system removed)

03 CL-S 5AT
76,012 miles (I actually remember it)
Original brakes
Needed new tires (was on second set)
Tiny crack on the windshield

Everything else, I think I kept it pretty clean. I wasn't happy with what they offered considering KBB.com price but I just thought it was sooo much car for $10,000.

$36.4K OTD

I thought it was still an excellent price even for non-certified.

Some of the 02/03 are even going for less than $30k... but I couldn't justify getting something that's older than what I'm replacing.

Most people would tell you to go for 06-later b/c they added a few additional features but they're well above $50k.

I think that the SC was determined to be the most reliable car of all time.

nice pickup, I hear they are bit soft in the ride department, but if that's what you are looking for they you made a great choice. They certainly are good looking.

Congrats on the SC!
Yes, many of us are biased towards various degrees of sporty/firm ride, but what matters is how the SC fits you, and most of us will admit that the SC is a nice car regardless.

Moog-Type-S is from SoCal, so he's probably using "male man" to clarify just in case any of you have seen photos or video of West Hollywood on Halloween nights.

FWIW, I have seen many more guys than women driving the SC.

Now if you were to rephase that to "Your the first male man under 25 I have ever seen driving one"..... I would probably agree with you.

Definitely more male drivers at least in my area, but they are mostly old enough to be my dad. I guess I have 'old men' taste on things!

Seems like an ok deal... KBB was close to what they gave you, and it's not with the hassle to haggle over 900 bucks...

I haven't checked trade in values for awhile, so I'm suprised at the 10K figure... But it is what it is... a discontinued coupe...

Never been a fan of the SC's looks (kinda like an upsidedown jellybean). But it is a great car underneath!

Yea, would have been my first thing to do... get rid of those rims. Thank god it didn't come w/ it. Ones on 06-later are really nice though. (two-tone 5 spokes)

I was waiting for someone to call me that!! I'm sorry but I can't help that my ass wants comfy seats than sporty seats...

Believe it or not, I was comparing this w/ BMW Z4 (same year, roughly same mileage but MUCH difference in pricing) and I just wasn't feeling it...

Congrats on the car ... if it weren't for the stodgy appearance to it ... I think the virtues of the car are great! (2 seater, comfortable, great fit & finish, hard top convertible, big engine) Just its application ... shape could be a bit more sporty and classy at the same time yet still keep the plush ride. (Think something like Mercedes SL)

Anyway, enjoy the car.

FYI: It seems every Korean drama has some young guy ballin' in that Lexus (well, ones from 2+ years ago) ... but just doesn't work here in North America.

Nice... nothing like an upgrade. Personally I'm not a fan of most Lexus (not even sure about the IS-F) but the styling is pretty nice, especially that hardtop in charliemike's post. In the end its your car, enjoy it!

The one thing that cracks me up is the 2 rear seats in the SC though.... if you can even call them that. And I thought my car wasn't that great

Some of you didn't know the SC had rear seats.... but they're not even child seats. Good luck fitting anything larger than a fetus back there. Still not knocking your decision, just Lexus' decision to even put em there.
