Buying Used Car- Help? (sti)

ive never purchased a car myself before so i was looking for some general help please..

im in the market for a 2006 black sti.. with approx 25-30k on it..
i see a few on cars.com and autotrader, all with prices of 26-28k..
ive looked up prices on edmunds and kbb.. and their prices are generally in the vicinity of 22-24k.
with the state of the economy now, would it be easy to get those prices out the door? and how much of a general haggle room is there from sticker prices.?

i also plan on parting out my current car (02 TL) and using the money to put as a down payment (estimating 8k or so).. what is the avg APR on used cars? im pretty sure i have okay-pretty good credit.

Thanks

DUDE your NBP has always been one of my favorite 2Gs.... anyway

I haven't looked at STis recently but when I checked Evos for fun a few weeks ago (I really like them but probably never will get one) they were under $20k. My friend said he saw an 05 Evo VIII? going for around 17k. I guess for a low mileage STi that's close. You should be able to get a good deal if you look around. I got my 02 Z28 from a private party and the guy didn't know jack about cars so I got a good deal, and a good rate on my loan, 6.74% since my FICO was ~730. Been a while since I made a payment

Love STis though, make sure you stick around if/when you get it.

I would say to visit the Subaru website for their specials. Then go to LegacyGT.com and take a look at the thread "How to get a new Legacy at 2% under invoice". It's not a WRX, but it's the way to get the car you want for a little less.......That is to get an idea of a new one. You want used. Sorry.

Take a look at a lot of used car dealers US wide, then see what kind of price they are going for. Also, be sure that the one you select hasn't had the shit beat out of it by some punk who put a bunch of stuff on it and got bored.

I would *NEVER* buy a used Evo or STI, my friend bought a used 8 and it was nothing but trouble. You pretty much know anyone who bought either of those cars ran them to the ground

I'm not sure if you're set on black, but phil2 is selling a blue 04 STi with 50k miles for under 20k if I recall correctly. He's also in the NY area, shoot him a pm if you're interested.

I'd have to agree.

I had an 06 Aspen White STi and bought it new. Sold it with 20k on the speedometer. While I wouldn't say I drove it into the ground, I did have it heavily modified.

Just be careful, ask for all service records and if all else fails, considering getting it from the dealer with a warranty.
