Buying advice: '06 Accord vs. '06 Camry
In the market to replace my wife's '95 Civic...it has 179,000 miles, so we're thinking of getting something bigger, with 4 doors.
Any thoughts between the two? We are still unsure if we want a 4 cylinder or a V6.
If anyone has gotten one of these in the last couple weeks, can you post your price before tax, title, license?
Went to 1 Honda dealer and the pricing he gave was invoice. Toyota's have a $1000 incentive going on right now that helps.

engine wise both the 4 and v6 in the accord feels stronger than the camry.
interior, accord wins hands down. camry looks dated and very bland.
handling, accord again unless you like that boat feeling then go with the camry
exterior, subjective but i like the 06 accord better here too

I recently drove an 06 Camary for two weeks as a rental car. It was the 4 cylinder model. I wasn't all that impressed.
The car felt like it floated along. It was very disconnected from the road. The steering felt very loose as well.
The engine was vastly underpowered (although I'm sure the V6 is fine). The throttle response was poor as well. I would punch the gas and it would take almost two seconds to kick in. I understand that the car is downshifting but it just took way to long.
Basically it's a good commuter car but it's not fun at all. There is not one drop of fun to be found in this vehicle. It is purely an A to B kind of car.

It looks like you have good luck with your Civic over the years so why not stay in the Honda family???
Get the Accord. The Camry is alright but doesn't excite in any way.

I think the solara looks better inside than the camry (yes i know the solara is the same as the camry). What about the TSX? That's way better than the camry and maybe even better than the accord.

My goal is to maybe stay less than $25K on a new car.....so far, the Camry gets a $1000 incentive and the one we test drove today had the side airbags optioned on it. With door sills and ground effects, the car came in at about $23,500 (which includes the $1000 off). Now if I can find one similarly equipped but without ground effects, the car would be about $22,500 before ttl.....
The LX V6 accord sedan comes in at about $23,500 before ttl. The EX V6 Accord comes in at about $25,500 before ttl, but includes leather.
So price wise, the Camry seems like a better deal. Heck, my wife will mostly be driving it, but me being more of a Honda/Acura guy, I can't just let the Accord go. With that, I find it hard to make a decision.....
Cliff notes:
Camry SE-V6 = ~$22,500 + ttl (~$23,500 w/ ground effects)
Accord LX-V6 = ~$23,500 + ttl
Accord EX-V6 = ~$25,500 + ttl
What's a good deal?

Why not go used?
I took an older coworker out to buy and we saw an '03 Accord (it was late '04 at the time)...coupe, leather, v6, navi. After I got irritated with the salesguy for a while we walked out with it for $21,500. It had 3k miles or so.

I'd personally hold out for the 2007 Toyota Camry. Especially if you're considering the V6 model: for the first time since the 1997 Accord, obstensibly the new Camry V6 will have the goods to lay the smack down on the Accord V6 (268hp vs 244hp).

Can't go wrong with either car. But from my past experience with cross shopping the two brands, Toyota's financing is way more attractive, as are their promotional offers.

Accord hands down...but you're paying a premium. Sonata is a better deal but who knows how durable they are in the long-run...(after all, who knows how durable the Camry/Accord are either nowdays... )
I'd avoid any Accord V6 Auto that is 03 or earlier...just too risky as the transmission are junk.

I'd wait to test drive the 07 camry before I made up my mind. The deals on the 06's will probably be better with 07's on the lot also even if you didn't like the new model.

accord is better in general, but camry is better than accord in quietness and more roomy than the accord
the Camry LE V6 is the best deal, SE might be a little expensive although it has the 3.3L engine
i would do the Accord LX V6 since i am not a fan of leather seats, and can't resist of 244hp

Update:
Wife is leaning towards the Camry SE-V6.
I'm still trying to swing a better deal on the Accord, probably the LX-V6. Perhaps if they can offer something better than $500 below invoice (maybe $750-$1000, not sure about that though) and throw in the tint, door edge guards, fenderwell trim, mudguards, wheel locks and trunk mat.
As for the Camry SE-V6, best deal is $250 over invoice so far, but I only got quotes from 2 dealers. But there is $1000 in cash back, so that deal is roughly $750 below invoice overall.
I'll keep you posted.
Oh yeah, my wife doesn't want a Hyundai either or a Subaru....

only thing that lacks: Auto climate and trip computer
as far as with the camry they dun have much room to go, when my dad looked into the XLE V6 a couple yrs ago they sell all the Camry at MSRP, either buy it or go home

Well, I'm kind of pushing her at the SE-V6....she doesn't know too much about cars, so I let her test drive the LE 4-cylinder first, then I picked out an SE-V6 for her to drive....if she thinks the 4-cylinder is sufficient, then we go with the cheaper trimmed one and we don't have to spend too much money. But me being sneaky, I only show her the SE-V6....the LE-V6 lacks a lot and the XLE-V6, even though has some nice options, doesn't even have 17-inch wheels. SE-V6, I think, is tuned a little better, or at least breathes a bit better.
In anycase, having the underbody kit, it does look sportier, but I think we'll end up passing on it ($700 something option at invoice)....
The price isn't too bad at $250 above invoice, but I know they can do better.
I still like the Accord more though, but the price is higher.

True but at least you'll be driving an up-to-date car...not one that is based on a 4yr old design...plus, I bet that the resale value on the previous gen will suffer once the new one launches.

Check www.v6p.net for continuting tranny failures on Accord V6 autos. The K24 seems solid and putters around pretty nice. Plus I wouldn't pay more than $23,500 for an EX V6 Accord.

Dude, check out the prices paid forums on Edmunds.com....
I mean, I bought an accord at 800 below invoice at the beginning of the model year, and got that price without trying at all!
They even located and traded for our vehicle
