Buying a 2013 CR-V

Hey all, wife and I are buying a 2013 WDP/Black CR-V that will be a little sister to my TL, is there and online forum for Hondas...I'm sure there is but can someone link me to it?

Thanks in advance.

Report back on your impressions of the CR-V. We'll be in the market for a small SUV sooner than later. Curious what made you choose it over the competition?

CRV info

I don't know of any groups dedicated to Honda ownership, however the 2009 CR-V my wife and I purchased has 70K miles on it and all I have had to do is perform scheduled maintenance on it and replaced the tires. Everything on the car works just as it did the day we brought it home. It won't be our last Honda purchase.

We drove all of the competitors, and all with comparible equipment were more expensive than the AWD EX-L with Nav. The KBB 5 year cost of ownership was significantly lower on the CR-V due to lower fuel cost, lower insurance cost, best resale value and lower maintenance costs. Very nice leather interior, better leather than my 08 TL I think, plus all the other bells and whistles.

Good info, thanks. Did you test the CX-5 or Rav4?

We did...

CX-5: under powered, more expensive, lower MPG

RAV-4: To get comparible equipment we would have to get the V6, more expensive, significantly lower MPG, 5 yr cost of ownership about $3K more. Although it was like 260 hp compared to the 185 of the CR-V. But she's driving a 170 hp Subaru Legacy right now so the CR-V is a step up.

Note, all my impressions are from the test drive of the CR-V which we did have overnight. Only one we did that with. That was with a 2012. No changes to the 2013 and ours will be in this week.

CX-5 lower MPGs?? I thought the Skyactive gets like 38MPG on the highway. I definitely know it's underpowered for it's size though. What does the CR-V get MPG-wise?

I hear you about HP vs MPG/Cost. My wife currently drives an '01 Corolla so anything is going to be a step up HP-wise, but considering how slow the CX-5 is it's probably an even match with the Corolla. The Rav4 V6 4x4 0-60 times have me watering at the mouth, but since I'll only be driving it on trips and she'll be using it to commute to work everyday I might not have a lot of pull when it comes to that kind of fun stuff.

I will be looking for a nice used CRV with hopefully a manual tranny

Did you test drive an auto or manual?

You are correct, I misspoke, CX-5 AWD gets 32 MPG hwy. vs 30 for the CR-V.

Test drove only 2012 auto, EX-L w/ Nav only comes as an auto. My wife is not at all interested in shifting.

I'm pretty sure the stateside CR-V hasn't been offered in a stick shift since '06.

I was about to ask that.^ '07 was the first year of the 3G that came with the upgraded 5AT and dropped the US MT.

My wife and I bought an '07 EX-L in May, and the only complaint i have is bubbles in the driver's arm rest. However, considering my RL has them too, I suppose that is one thing Honda cannot figure out no matter what the cost of the car is. The pickup of the CR-V feels a world better than the '09 Civic EX-L coupe we had before.

Never knew there were so many CR-V owners on AZine. There's no auto tranny issues with them like the CLs/TL/Accords/Oddys right?

The CX-5 that gets good milage is only FWD.

We like our '07 CR-V but it's too small for our family. It's zippy around town but at highway speeds it's slow as hell (no acceleration). We get around 20mpg in town and no better than low 20's on trips. Again, this is a 2007 model.

OP, shoot me a PM before you go to buy one of these vehicles. I am a district sales rep for Honda. I can give you some helpful hints before buying a vehicle as well as pricing you should aim for...

We were going to trade in our Infiniti FX35 for something with better mpg. Looked at TSX Sportwagon, CR-V, New RDX, and CX-5. We got RDX as a loaner before test driving the CR-V EX-L Nav, and this totally spoiled us and kicked out CR-V from our consideration.
