What would happen if you have a busted motor mount and you drive for a few hundred miles on it?

 

Maybe just a lot of vibrating?

But my motor mounts went bad at 78K and had to pay about $350 to get 'em replaced.

 

This would be for an older Pontiac Grand Prix. Just curious if driving on it would be alright or not. Would vibration be the only worry?

 

Those shitboxes are notorious for motor mount problems. I've actuall ridden in one with a busted mount.

Driving with the busted mount will aid in destroying the rest of the good mounts.

I guess if your driving a Grand Prix, you probably can't afford new motor mounts but I'd get them replaced asap.

 

Anything else other than the other motor mounts going bad? My cousin is concerned that her boyfriend is driving out to see her and he's got a bad motor mount. I don't know too much except that it will be a rough ride with the engine vibrating and all. I'm guessing that nothing else bad can happen (like engine falling out)....

 

I just replaced my motor mounts on my TL. Didnt even notice they were cracked until the mechanic showed me. You have a bit until it gets real bad and starts to be noticable w/ vibration.

 

Before I sold my cl-s I had it checked out at a shop and found out all 3 of my motor mounts were busted (50k miles on the car). No idea how long they had been like that.
