Brake Caliper Paint

What kind of paint do I need for brake calipers? Is it just hihg temperature paint? I am going to be getting at carquest maybe. And below is a pic of my pos accord automatic but I want to paint my calipers, any suggestions on color? I am thinking maybe black? or a dark red? and then i think i am going to paint the rear drums black b/c they are turning a ghetto nasty gray color

I just painted mine black. I used some real hi temp(1300 degree) paint. It has some ceramic in it so when it gets hot it bonds a bit better to the part. I usually get the brake caiper paint, but the auto store didn't have it. They did have that brush on cailper paint system, but it was EXPENSIVE at $19.99. I paid 6.99 for the paint I got.

Do NOT paint the drums black (or god forbid red like so many ricer-oni's do) because the black will really show off your cheap-arse drum brakes. If you paint them, paint them flat silver (no gloss) - this will blend in better and will not call attention to your "brake-system-inadequacies"

imo, painting calipers is completly rice. This all started as a look to mimic a BBK. If anything, paint them black.

It hides ugly brake calipers also. It's not just rice. The CL & TL calipers are some of the worst looking ones I have seen.

I agree, painting calipers red, yellow, etc is extremely weak. All it does is scream "Hey, I couldn't afford a BBK so I did this instead."

As long as you paint it black, that is okay...I guess that "hides" the calipers. However, going with red, yellow, etc.... now that is rice. And also, I see no difference in painting drums and calipers. You can't say one is rice, and the other isnt. That just doesnt make any sense.

^^werd on the painting the calipers colors...i think black is cool though bc the calipers are hideous, esp. after time...they start to turn like grey and ugly...

powdercoat them? Not sure if Dave is still doing them for a decent price since he has been sick, but it might be worth asking.

Thinking about it.

You guys convinced me, I will paint my black. I don't see the point in silver. + Kragen has the paint at 16.99 - $5 in store pick up.

^ Silver or black are the safe bets ... I won't paint my future cars with flashy colors any more (my current set up is yellow ... to complement the dark blue paint of the car. I originally wanted gold paint to match the center caps for my Volk rims but no one had any ... )
