BOV, BPV, 50/50, recirc

Blowoff Valve
Bypass Valve

50/50
Recirc or Full

What are all these? Can someone explain some general information on these things? It's one of modifications that everyone is getting over at the MSF. I asked the same question there but it's much better if I ask this here on AZ.

FYI, I heard that 2010 MS3 engines are designed to work better with BPV than BOV. Why is that? What's the difference between the two?

Thanks in advance.

A BOV is for turbo engines (and N/A engines that want to SOUND like turbo engines - LOL). It releases pressure in the system when the car is shifting, or that's at least when I hear the BOV work the most.

Depends what your tuner recommends to do with the excess air.

With a BOV the air is "blown" into the air causing a drop in boost.
With a bypass valve the air is recirculated into the system to maintain boost.
