It was bound to happen...

Finally decided on my next car, and pulled the trigger on a '06 GTO M6

Never thought I'd be writing one of those "saying goodbye to the CL", but after 5 years of great fun and VERY satisfying modding, I'm ready to move on....

400 HP, RWD, IRS, same weight and size as the CL, better brakes, great seats. This car has 12,000 miles on it and I got it for $25K out the door.

The goat is great (so far), and as I look at the pictures below, I realize that these two cars are just variations on the same theme.

Acurazine is the coolest automotive forum on the web, I'll still be around

Awesome.

That is probably going to be my next car when I can afford it, which is probably after a few years in college.

Nice purchase! I used to fiend for a CL-S6, eagerly waiting for the time but if anything I would definitely rather get a '05+ GTO 6MT now. Those seats are friggin suite indeed.

You probably haven't pushed it yet since you just got it, but I'll just put this question out there. How does it handle compared to the CL? I believe it weighs quite a big more.... they may be the same in size and the V8 may be an OHV but IIRC it weighs a few hundred lbs. more than a 2G CL/CL-S.

Congrats on the new car! And I really like the color, in those pics it reminds me of my old Laguna Green Metallic 2G TL.

Nice pull, the GTO is the best bang for the buck out there imo. Enjoy!

You're right, it is too soon to tell, but just from my freeway ramp experience, the GTO corners flatter and more effortlessly than the CL. My CL had/has comptech springs and tokico adjustables, but still plows when pushed hard, like all heavy front drivers. The Goat has better balance, even though it is a little heavier.

Congrats man. Slap some headers, a cold air box, and a cat back on that ride, then tune it and be happy with about 45 more horses 35 more lb ft of torque. Good luck with it.
