Bought a new car!
Update
Mods: Can you merge this with my previous thread "TL needed timing belt" thank you
Got engaged this past weekend to my beautiful girlfriend and bought a new car!
Really like the car so far! Miles and miles ahead of the 8G Accord IMO. The CVT is great too! I didn't experience that of that "rubber band" feeling that some people are talking about. Off the line it's a little sluggish but past ~20mph it really takes off. The extra torque feels great!
So far I've put about 160 miles on it and I'm averaging 28mpp. That includes the 25 test drives miles that were on the car when I got it. I'm sure people have floored it and not give a damn about the mpg. I bet I can pull off 30mpg with daily driving.

No love for CVT huh?
Thanks for the compliments guys! Most of the time I can't even tell it's a CVT unless I floor the car. It feels like a normal automatic to me. Everyone that's driven my car or rode in it didn't know it either. The fiance just said she likes the paddle shifters haha
I've driven the Nissan CVT back in the day and I knew I didn't like it. Actually I hated it but for some reason it doesn't bother me with the Accord. Maybe it does feel a lot different. No telling unless I drive the two back to back.
Ttribe or anyone else: What do you not like about CVTs?

Congrats on both fronts, Alex!! The Accord looks great; that blue is gorgeous.
Like ttribe, I've only driven a CVT in a rental Altima, and it was horrible. I even got up early one day with the intention of taking it back to the place before work and demanding a real car. I let it go, hated it for two more days, and thankfully got my car back. I let me dad drive it at one point as he was curious about CVTs...he hated it, too.

Congrats on both the car and engagement!
Very nice color choice on the Accord.
As others I've only driven the Nissan CVT. I can't see how it could get any worse than that tranny, so I'm sure the Honda version is light years ahead. And paddle shifters is a nice feature to give it some sort of sportiness.

Drive it, then comment on how it feels. It's amazing.
Just like how not every conventional automatic is good, the same is for the CVT.

Thanks again everyone!
Compared to the Altima CVT, this one feels wayyy better. Just last night I went out again and messed around with the paddles shifters, downshifting at passing speeds and heavy acceleration. Upon downshifting you can actually feel a little torque...it does come with almost 20 lb-ft of torque more then an 8G 4cyl and I can feel it. Under normal driving you almost forget it's a CVT.
Anyways, the interior is what I like the most about the car. Everything feels soft to the touch, the controls are within a comfortable reach and iMID pretty much controls everything except the climate control. The bluetooth is an awesome feature as well! Better then my 3G TL back in the day.
Only con I can't stand is the paint and interior attracts ALOT of fingerprints. Small chrome looking pieces need to be wiped constantly, the paint shows off fingerprints easily and the audio controls show the slightest greasy fingerprints. It's annoying as hell! Maybe because everything is black?? My 2012 Accord had a tan interior and didn't show hardly any dirt/fingerprint marks.
The other con is that the wheels are heavy as shit! Over 55 pounds I believe with the tires. Hopefully I'll be changing those out soon.

Nice ride. Sweet car too

lol jp, congrats man. I completely forgot about the Accord Sport while I'm looking at the 2014 Mazda6. I should go try one of these puppies out.
Alex, what are you doing for satellite radio in your Accord Sport since it's not available? Are you just using your smartphone? As bad as XM is, I like having my newschannels and don't want to use my phone's data plan to listen.
I test drove the Accord Sport CVT last year and your description of the experience is similar to what I noted at the time. I couldn't tell it was a CVT. It was that good.

In my experience it was more than tolerable. I don't see the problem here, drive the damn car, then judge the CVT.
I would hands down take it over the 6 speed auto in the Hyundai's and Chryslers I've driven recently, and the 5 speed autos in the Honda's I have.

Luckily my girl shares my dislike of mini-vans so we'll be looking for an SUV down the line. I liked the Odyssey/mini-van for road trips with my family when I was younger but I'd never own one.

if I were in the market. Yay Honda!
