Bought a Jeep!

We sold my wife's Altima 3.5 coupe the past weekend for a Jeep Commander. We found a killer deal on an 08 Overland with every option in the book with around the same mileage as the Altima. We knew we wanted an SUV that we could get dirty, so that eliminates 90% of them. We shopped Grand Cherokees, FJs, Xterras and 4Runners but ended up falling in love with the Commander. It has more options than the other trucks combined and will be more user friendly for us. I knew I wanted an 08-09 model because of various engine upgrades and other features, and when we found one close-ish with very low miles (38k), we jumped on it. We drove to Houston in the Altima and back in the Commander on Saturday..and what a smooth riding and quiet SUV it is. So far there is really nothing to complain about, I can't wait to take it to Ouray and get it out in the woods. Its actually a quite small SUV, which I like. Parked next to a Tahoe it really starts to shrink, I think its only 2 inches longer than a Grand Cherokee. We managed to get almost 320 miles out of the tiny 20.5g tank on the way home which actually shocked me, I thought it would be a lot worse.

Hemi V8, Remote Start, Power Lift Gate, 3 Sunroofs, 3 Rows of Seats, Navigation, Heated Front & Back Leather and Suede Seats, Auto Wipers/Headlights/Highbeams, Hill Decent/Ascent control, QuadraDrive II (Automatic Front and Rear Lockers), Fold Down TV, Rear Air, Adjustable Pedals, Seat Memory, 2 110 Outlets, Rear Camera, Parking Sensors, Auto Dimming/Power Folding Mirrors...etc, etc, etc.

We'll miss the Altima coupe...kinda. It was hard loaded but honestly, my 8 year old Acura CL was put together better than the Altima. It was in great shape, but everything just felt cheap...and that CVT tranny was...well, a CVT tranny.

Im not going crazy with it, I don't think. I detailed it yesterday and threw in some LED license plate lights I had laying around. I also touched up some of the chips in the paint.

Engine Programmer
Intake & Exhaust
Rough Country 2.25" Lift (Has to fit in the Garage!)
265/65/18 BFG All Terrains
SpiderTrax spacers
Some Lighting Goodies

Beautiful truck! I love these things.

The contrast in the interior looks really good. I love the burnt orange/brown color Jeep uses in the Overlands too.

More pics of the interior?

Congrats! My cousin had one and he loved it! Such a nice drive and really a great looking SUV. Does JEEP still make it? He ended up trading it in and downsizing to an Altima because of the terrible gas milage.

Thanks, everyone!

Jeep stopped making them in 2010, but are re-releasing a 3 row Jeep back under the Grand Wagoneer name sometime soon. Gas mileage is bad, but...it is a V8, and SUV and 4wd. I wish the gas tank was slightly larger as it only holds 20.5 gallons. Our Altima could almost go 600m between fill ups on long trips, you're lucky to get around 300 with the Jeep.

Ouray Hotel booked for July 27th-31st for a Commander Summit. Nothing better to break in the Jeep like going over Black Bear. Lift and tires coming very soon. The Jeep will do it stock, but...peace of mind.

Nice! A buddy of mine had one and the only complaint he had was the gas mileage. But he had the 6.

Lift & Wheel Spacers....check! I've got about 6" of clearance to the top of the garage door.

Tires should be here shortly. I decided to go with the new Toyo Open Country ATII's, I don't think the E-Load BFGs were worth the extra cost, loss in ride quality and mileage.

I'll take actual pics once the tires are on.

Just tires for now. If I can do the Alpine Loop with no blowouts I'll stick with them. Im not happy with the 65 profile, but its all I can fit with out modding stuff.

I really like the AEV Pintlers, but I don't know how necessary all that is for what is a daily driver. We'll see.

Looks great! What lift did you go with? How high did you go?

The AEV Pintlers are really nice... but be careful because the finish is known to flake and the wheel can potentially crack. They're great looking wheels, wish they weren't so expensive too.

Thanks! Its the Rocky Road 2.25" lift. It lifts the back about 2.25" and the front closer to 3" to level out the stock rake. Although, after its all said and done, the whole lift looks closer to 3.5". Spacers are 1.5" Spidertrax.

Didn't know all that about the Pintlers. The XK version are on clearance for $150/ea now, but by the time I decide if I want new wheels or not they'll surely be all gone. If I do purchase wheels down the road, it will be hard to not just pick up some JK Moab take-offs. Tons of sets available with low mileage BFG M/Ts.

If you're looking for Moabs, let me know, my father in law has a number of sets that he's been trying to sell.
